Clearwater Canyon Cellars — Attraction in Idaho

I don't know what I was thinking when I initially tried to just order one glass. Why have one glass for $7-10 when I can try 8+ different wines for $10?

The pours were on the small side, but there was plenty of wine served and we did get an offer to revisit favorites. I'm pretty sure the tasting fee would have been waived if we bought a bottle, but we have a few too many bottles at home so I decided to just stick with the tasting fee.

The employee was very nice and chatted with us more and more as the tasting progressed. The front area tables were all occupied when we arrived so they set up additional tables in the barrel room and opened up the wall/door so we could sit in there. The cool room felt wonderful on a hot day. They had outdoor seating set up but it was too hot out there.

At least some of the other visitors appeared to be regulars. One couple apparently likes bringing in treats (like a chocolate bar) to share with everyone each time they visit so we enjoyed a surprise piece of dark chocolate.

Overall it was a lovely visit. I just wish they had snacks. I would have loved something like fruit and cheese...

I have only good things to say about Clearwater Canyon Cellars. I love the idea of being passionate about what you do, but in this instance, the passion was brought to a whole new level. The winery is a combination of several love stories: a love of science, a love of wine, a love of cultivating land - it's such a pleasure to be here and the wines are my favorite in the area.

I am currently sipping the Carmenère as I type this! I possibly shouldn't mention it, because it's sold out online, but it's one of my favorites.

The photo is from the barrel tasting this summer. The wine club member events are SO much fun! And, when we joined the wine club, we got a handwritten note in the mail thanking us and I felt so valued and treated as more than just a customer. We're wine club members at other wineries but Clearwater Canyon goes out of their way to be superior.

One of my favorite wineries in the Pacific Northwest... Always spectacular and interesting, with the most approachable and kind winemakers and staff you could ever meet. Thanks for sharing your talents Coco, Carl, Sara, Mike and the Clearwater Canyon Cellars gang! Congratulations on the Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year award 2020. So well deserved July 2023. Still the gem of the LCV AVA and head and shoulders above most wineries in the Pacific NW Barrel tasting today and they're are some treasures there you won't want to miss Spring 2024 - some fabulous new releases that you won't want to miss.
