I wouldn’t go to the dangerous areas in this park .I LOST MY HUSBAND SUNDAY he was biking and got a stick on his eye and Straight to his brain please stay away don’t let this happen to your family members ,now I have two beautiful kids to support and survive after him . I’m not recommending to use the South path that haven’t being maintained for a while (per a biker that take me to the spot where my husband passed) he said is not safe there please be careful I’m trying to prevent someone else to loose their beloved family member .(my husband name was Abner Avila this happens Sunday August 3erd at 5:30 pm )

Excellent dirt trail prime for biking and suitable for the alert walker/runner. With glimpses of the white river and a winding path this gem of a park is situated between 465, a housing addition and a sort of commercial district. Don’t forget to ride under 465 and hit the south loop for an extended trip. You might as well stop at Oliver Woods Preserve while you are there. Enjoy plenty of parking and an area suitable for a semi-sketchy kayak launch (this could be revamped a bit) or take out. This park is perfect for a lowkey Sunday stroll. Enjoy!

The park is designed for mountain bikes and is well maintained. I'm a runner and come here because it is the only natural surface trails in or near Carmel. The winding of the trails are annoying at times though I'm sure it's fun for mountain bikers. Thus for runners it's not the most fun. The portion of the park south of I-465 is a beautiful restored prairie. North of I-465 is riparian habitat and full of invasive honeysuckle though in fall a lot of the nettle flowers and captures a certain charm.

Been going to this trail for around 20 years...yes thats correct...It has changed considerably in that time. Im pretty sure it started out as a dirt bike trail. Well the trail has been tamed down a lot from when I first experienced it and the trail routes have been reformatted several times. For the most part it is quasi-easy to moderate skill trail although there are a few tricky spots. These generally have a warning but not always. Its about 7 miles long I guess if you do both sections divided basically by I 465 which you go under for the southern part. The southern part is more prairie like and the northern part is where the tricky areas are some of which can actually be dangerous especially to the unaware. Speed can both make it more fun and somewhat more tricky..... The rocky area just north of 465 on your way back, when you go back into the woods deserves some caution as well as tetnus hill very near the end of the circuit. Have fun but PLEASE wear a HELMET . Oh yea there is wildlife there of course but the deer( a few ) can surprise you and even be right...

BIKERS Been coming here regularly for years. It's an outstanding, well maintained mountain bike trail with features to appeal to all skill levels. Some spots might be a little narrow and scary for kids, but I've seen plenty of kids on the trail (including my own) so it's totally doable.

RUNNERS People do occasionally come here to run as well. While you technically can do that, I wouldn't recommend it unless you do the following: First, pay attention to the trail direction as it varies by day. ALWAYS GO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE BIKERS! Some of the bikers here are really fast riders carving around blind corners. It can be REALLY dangerous to come around a corner and find foot traffic in the middle of the trail, back facing you, headphones in, and totally oblivious to the biker skidding to an emergency stop at their back. Don't be...

A basic to intermediate mountain biking trail within easy driving distance from downtown Indy and most of its suburbs. I did my first MTB session here and found it to be challenging yet doable. Beginners can take it slow and manage it well at around an hour, and the more experienced tend to race it to better their speed as training for timed events (doable in half an hour if experienced). The ride is quite scenic along the White River. It can be congested as this is only one of a few courses in the Indy area, so make sure to let faster people pass by as this is common MTB courtesy. If the gate is closed, please don't ride on it. They make sure that the course is preserved from damage when it's too wet, so recent rain may preclude the...
