The first time we came to JayDees Finland in Inwood, WV the cost was so reasonable and parents were not charged to supervise their children. I may not remember correctly and perhaps they were but the fee was much smaller. We had a great time. Everything was clean, employees were pleasant, and lifeguards kept my children safe.Today we drove the 2 hours it takes to get here and we payed $65 to use the pool area only. I again was just there to supervise my own children and did no activities. It is completely ridiculous that I paid $25 to sit at a table. I voiced my complaints to the lovely blond lady at the counter and she was very empathetic but could not help. I feel badly that she had to be the one to hear my grumbling and I am sure I am not the first or only one. There are so many ways that management could keep costs lower especially when a lot of families, like mine, are not working through COVID. If tracking numbers of customers is an issue, separate color bands could be given to people who just want to supervise or use one activity. Tracking entries may have been a posted priority but the place was packed. On the website it states, “ We are limiting the number of guests each day to allow for social distancing and to help our guests have a more enjoyable experience.” there was NO social distancing enforced. Actions speak louder than words in this case. Costs could be prorated also so that people who arrive after a certain time pay less. I checked the website before coming and NOWHERE does it say that parents who are not participating have to pay. It says “ The General Admission pricing includes all day activities- Water Park, Miniature Golf, unlimited Go-Karts, Nature Zone, Jungle Gym & Train Rides!” Customers need to know this before arriving so it should be an specific statement or warning. We had also planned to pay the extra $6 to stay from 5:30-7:30 because the website says that the pool area is open during those times Sunday through Thursday. I was told that there was a private party scheduled. The website says, “Public Swim and Evening Session: Sunday through Thursday 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.” Clearly management has not updated the website and it deceives customers. There was no way that I would spend four hours total in the car and disappoint my children so I paid the fees. In addition when there was an accident in the pool and swimmers were to exit, the lifeguard supervisor said “f@&$” as she walked by myself and other families with children. We will NEVER be back to JayDees. My email is katelease@hotmail.com if anyone wants to explain this problem. I will also post this on social media so that other families are informed and don’t pay these large fees for NO REASON! Again COVID has led another business to take advantage of the public. Management should honor what they advertise...
Read moreSo, when reviewing local places for a birthday party for my two-year old, this one seemed to be the least expensive and we had been to the Arcade once or twice and really liked it. The reviews seemed pretty good also.
We quickly found out that it was a serious mistake to have a birthday party here when we arrived. First, we showed up and, in contrast to the website, had to set everything up ourselves almost entirely, with the exception of chips, cups, and a straw that they set out. Then, after signing up for the room from 12:30-2, we were told by our party host that the family after us had been booked for two, which essentially meant that we had to be out by 1:45. The way that the host said it was basically "take it or leave it".
At about 1:30, the cleaning crew showed up and literally took things off the table from the kids while they were still eating, boxed the pizzas up, and ripped the banners down. They ripped one banner that we had paid for and essentially said it was not there problem. It was really embarrassing when the other guests were arguing with the cleaning people about there kids not being done, especially since we still had another half an hour. While my wife was opening the presents at about 1:40, a really nasty one of the crew said that they had people coming in at 2:00 and that my wife needed to open the rest of her gifts out of the party room. Many of our guests left the party early because of the rudeness of the staff in trying to push them out. One of the cleaning people also spilled water on a guest without apology in a frenzy to kick us our of the room.
After all this, there were no real apologies or discounts. The worse is that, when talking with other party guests, they do this all the time. After over $200 (not including the other $40 in tokens and $15 in additional ice cream), I think that I found that it is just best to go to Chuck-e-Cheese or Monkey Joes for birthday parties and will not recommend this place to anyone. I also contacted the BBB since we entered into a 1 and 1/2 hour agreement and were essentially rushed into one hour. Literally the embarrassment will be enough for me to never...
Read morePaid $110 for 3 kids and 2 adults. Took my son there for his birthday because he wanted to race his sister in the go karts which I was told they could both ride when I called. Only to find out only 1 go kart was working at the time we were there (double seaters because kids have to ride with adults under a certain height) . I was told at the front door about height requirements when checked by staff 2 of the kids were supposed to be eligible to do everything. Only for my son that is 46" tall with his shoes off that he could not go down the water slides which are for kids 45" and taller. I asked the staff for help with the matter which they said I would have to speak with a manager about the matter. Went to talk with a manager then she walked away to deal with another matter. Waited 20-30 minutes to try to resolve my issue and work something out only to be told no refunds even though they refused to provide the service I had already paid for. I understand equipment breakdowns can happen but I asked before paying to be sure I could do what I wanted before paying. Also the height issue at the slides should of never happended because he met the requirement. It would be nice to of at least been offered to come back another day after the repairs had been made and go karts available. I dont't recommend going here unless you want to be treated poorly and not get the services you paid for. I would like to work something out with the owner before pursuing another option. So if the business owner could please contact me and work something out that would be appreciated. I left my contact information with your staff. if not I plan to file a complaint with BBB and wv attorney general....
