We came here a couple weekends ago for Sunday brunch. Admittedly, we came right as church was letting out so they were somewhat busy—stood at the front door for about 10 mins before we were even acknowledged, much less seated. Then it took another 10-15 minutes to order our drinks and food (we made sure to put in both at the same time because by that point the customer service writing was on the wall).
The older woman who waited on us was super nice and was clearly being stretched thin, so I don’t want to go too hard on her specifically because I do think she was doing her best at the moment. But putting food on tables is just part of the experience of going to a restaurant—everything that comes before and after the meal also affects how enjoyable the experience will be.
Speaking of the food, it was decent. Probably a little better than I even expected (although I’ve definitely been to better mom-and-pop diners). I got the blueberry pancakes, which were nice and fluffy. My companions enjoyed their meals as well, but I’m told the sausage gravy was nothing to write home about.
If you’re local, you’re probably familiar with Kitzie’s—a local chain that tends to be popular among older crowds. It’s been ages since I’ve been to a Kitzie’s but from what I remember, the food seemed similar.
The hours as really odd too. Most days they close at 3PM so it’s not a hop-in-the-car-on-a-whim place because there’s a better-than-not chance they...

We tried them again tonight with the same server and the same table. I will say it was a much better experience this time. The server also remembered us from the last visit. She was more polite and attentive than last visit. We will try and visit again soon.
We have been going to the Inwood Diner since it opened. We’ve always had pretty good food and service there. But for some reason tonight it was the worst service and the food wasn’t as good. Betty, our server, seemed more interested in serving the birthday party behind us, than attending to us. It was like we were in her way of chatting with her birthday party. We didn’t get part of our order, we had to wait several minutes to get her to refill our drinks, and she never bothered to check on us. We had to flag her down. This was a very annoying evening. I hope if we come back the experience...
Read moreWhen a new restaurant opens up I want to try it! However, I’m not a big fan of Kitzie’s establishments with their service or their food. However, I wanted to give the Inwood Diner a shot. I ordered the steak and cheese quesadillas as the waitress said that’s a popular dish. The meat tasted liked a steakum and my meal was cold. I told the waitress I wanted a sweet tea and she gave me an unsweetened. That’s no problem at all and when I asked her if this was the sweet tea she rudely commented just put sweetener. I don’t put sweeteners in my drinks and I never touched and she saw that. I finally got an actual sweet tea, but the service by my waitress was very unprofessional. My family members order the pork chop and they were satisfied, but it was nothing to brag out. I’m glad I tried this establishment, but I will not be coming back.
