Irvine Metrolink Station — Attraction in Irvine

Located in a good location. ( on a Saturday)First time using this station . I got there about 8 min early . Hard to find parking on the first level as I have issues with my foot . We then went to the ticket kiosk . It wasn’t working . Then to the second one . It took about a min to process our tickets . I didn’t know we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs and walk across to the other side and then down 3 flights. There is an elevator and that was my only choice .. not a good thing when my foot was not 100%. It was a little slow . We got to the top and started walking across to the next elevator . The train was pulling away . I probably won’t use this station again as the Capistrano or Mission Viejo/Laguna Niguel is a better and more convenient station - no stairs or elevators . Laguna Niguel/ Mission viejo has a few stairs to walk under the tracks and parking is better probably because it’s not as crowded as Irvine. My suggestion is if you are 1/2 between the stations for metrolink use the MV/LN station. But if you use Amtrak use SJC or Irvine .. Amtrak for Irvine you don’t need to use the stairs as the tracks are...

Most of the time when I take Metrolink it's on the weekend when it's $10 to ride all day. This station is clean including the restrooms. They have a community service officer from IPD providing security, and the Wifi is free.

This is the station that has a special train going to L.A. for the Chinese New Year parade. A certain number of people get a free day ticket. They also have a mini celebration at the station. Irvine has a large Asian population. Irvine is also one of the stops for the special train that takes you to the NASCAR race. Ticket is $10. The train brings you back 1 hour after the checkered flag. Be on time or call Uber because there's only one train going back to Oceanside.

It might be cause I've only ever stopped here when the train is broken down.. but it's not a great station. Theres a restaurant that's never open. No real protection from rain at the platform. The clerk will say "wait at track 2" when we're supposed to be on track 1. They never seem to know what's happening with Amtrak.
