Honestly, you're an absolute idiot if you trust UCI Health and particular this office with your medical care. They do hire top-notch physicians who know their stuff, but apparently, they are either paying them too much or the 20 million dollar grant they received from the Wen family is not enough for them to properly staff this office. Called the office this afternoon to request a refill on an anti-anxiety medication cause a family member was having a mental crisis and we needed the doctor to approve a new script. Was told by the call center representative that because the family member was verbally stating suicidal ideation at the time of the call, they would need to have a nurse triage the call first. Fine, inconvenient as the medication we were calling for would have stabilized them, but I get doctors don't want to get sued for malpractice. One problem as usual NO ONE in this office EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE! So, in the time that a script could have been approved and sent to the pharmacy (I understand that it wouldn't have been that fast) so we could have picked up we were on hold while the call center was repeatedly calling the doctor's office. We were on hold for 30 minutes, and eventually, the call center just sent the call to a different clinic since they finally had someone answer. The physician we see is fabulous and we want to do nothing to disparage anyone from seeing him, however, he used to have a different nurse before he left to work at another healthcare facility. When we asked why he was leaving he confided that he was leaving for another facility and taking a significant pay cut to do so, because he was tired of working with lazy coworkers who spend their time ON THE CLOCK at work watching Netflix or Facetiming their kids, or just up and leaving the clinic on the clock to go to Target and get snacks. Apparently from what he shared with us they used to have a manager who was in the military and a disciplinarian, he got deployed and interim manager who was put in charge and eventually became the manager who never comes to their clinic as she's in charge of another office, and apparently "inmates have taken over the insane asylum since no one is there to hold any accountable.
P.S. the 2 quote on quote positive reviews left on here are a Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist, and someone unnamed person who left a review a month before this facility opened when they were still at Gottschalk Plaza. I just wish I had to ability to the reviews...
Read moreIf this would’ve been my first experience of going in under General anesthesia, I would be horrified. During my recent experience of a routine endoscopy with the ultrasound let was one of the worst experiences I ever had. Please note that I normally consider myself a pretty easy-going patient and withstand quite a bit of pain. I have had at least 15 or more experiences going under general anesthesia not to mention the numerous MRIs and follow up endoscopies colonoscopies, and other procedures that I’ve had over the last 20 years. I am normally a difficult stick and have trouble finding my veins at this point I am sure following my pink tic cancer and my Whipple, and seven months of chemo have changed and affected my veins as well.
On December 20 I went in for my routine endoscopy.. The nurse found a small vein on my wrist, which didn’t feel real great, but nor did I complain. I was wheeled into the procedure room and put on the table. A gas mass was placed on my face and the woman that assisted the general anesthesia at the head of Me forcefully injected medication in my IV. . It was so painful and stunk so much that I ended up moving my knees to my chest. Try to take off my gas mask so that I could speak to tell them to slow down as the pressure on the IV was causing severe pain. Instead of listening to me, I was forced to go down with the gas mask, and the doctor did not even bother to listen to my request, I had hoped that they would at least let me go out with a gas mask or some medication, but not as forceful as it was. This experience reminded me of my sister who was murdered, and I felt that I was being forced to go out. Thank goodness. that this was not my last experience nor the first.. I would hope that the anesthesiologist that assisted with me would be more sensitive in the future when they inject medication in your vein and to put one under General anesthesia. My arm afterwards was totally swollen, and my veins were black and blue and scarred. I’m sure from this experience as well. I hope that no one else has to ever experience going under and such a...
Read moreMy appointment with Dr. Im was over video. Accessing the two way video conferencing capability over MyChart presented no problems. The link performed flawlessly. I have very high praise for Dr. Im (sleep specialist). Even though this was my first meeting with him, it was crystal clear that he was completely conversant with my medical history, especially for the issue I wanted to address with. him. He had taken the time to become very familiar with my history. I was even more impressed with the quality, depth and breadth of conversation we had regarding the particular issue with which I needed help. He used a small battery of very pointed questions to characterize my symptoms. After gathering this data, he very quickly told me what I needed to do to improve my symptoms. He recommended an increase in dosage of one of my long time medications. He detailed 2 key lifestyle changes I needed to make immediately. He offered advice regarding options to effectively make these changes. Before we concluded he arranged for a follow up appointment. I am writing this about 8 weeks after the video appointment and the changes he recommended have had their desired effect (the lifestyle changes are still 'work in progress', but I've made some progress). Both of my UCI specialists are top tier doctors (Dr. KyoungBin K. Im Psychiatry, Sleep Medicine, Psychiatry-Child/Adolescent, and Dr. Phielipp Movement Disorder Specialist). The Joe C. Wen & Family Center for Advanced Care (where these Doctors Practice) is a bright, sparkling and ultra modern new facility with easy parking, plenty of handicapped aids, floor to ceiling windows and very good signage. You won't have a problem finding the location of your appointment soon the campus. In summary, I rate my experience as outstanding. All my...
