I'm writing you this evening, three days after giving birth to our baby boy at Baylor Scott and White, Irving. He is our fourth child, fourth hospital. This was the worse birth I've experienced of all my children. We arrived at BSW Sunday evening on May 6th 2018, around 5:35 pm. We arrived by ambulance because I thought that was the best way for us to get to Dallas, where we were registered to deliver. However, the paramedics informed me they would not be taking me to Dallas, but Irving instead. Devastated, I felt I had no choice but to go the quickest option, as I have very fast deliveries. Our baby was born within 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital. He was delivered by a labor and delivery nurse Kaitlin Kobilsek, accompanied by a few other nurses who were just as unhelpful during delivery. I knew birth was eminent and called for her to come over to me. She was not helpful in directing me during the birth. I didn't know to push, slow down, etc. She was just there waiting for me to do what I needed to do. I felt isolated. After our son was born and wiped off, he was not offered to me for skin to skin. He was wrapped and handed to my husband. After a while we asked the nurse if he could be weighed and she acted surprised by our request. The atmosphere and care by the L&D staff was less than cordial or comforting. I had hope my transfer to post partum would be more welcoming. Unfortunately I continued to feel I was a âred headed step child.â I was told several times because I was a âdrop inâ that this had to be done and that. As if I was an uninvited guest. The first time I went to the restroom, the tech didn't assist me. She stayed in the room while I went in the restroom. I felt ok but cautious because I had lost a bit of blood and needed a shot and medication to stop it. I knew from my last child I could get dizzy. Again, I felt I had to take care of myself. The first night was extremely difficult to rest. The excitement, the discomfort, the diapers, the feedings, and the noise. The unit didn't appear to be full so I don't understand why I was put in the nearest room to the nurses station. All night I could hear the ice machine as well as the nurses carrying on as if it was the middle of the day. One night tech, my second night, apologized stating âI'm sorry, were loud,â. They took no consideration there was a patient directly across from them trying to get in as much rest in between all the new mother duties, vitals, meds, etc. I could also hear the tech coughing all night at the desk. It was obvious she had a âsmokers cough.â We were required to stay 48 hours due to our son being late preterm. Never have I been so distraught not to leave post partum. The second night I had the same nurse as the first, her name was Tai. On night two she was friendly until about 3am. The lack of sleep was catching up to me and despite the noise and commotion of the nurses station, I was sleeping soundly. Apparently Tai had come in requesting I feed the baby so she could do his newborn screening, cord blood test and car seat test. As soon as she left I must have fallen back asleep because the next thing I recall was her coming back into the room asking me was he ready to go with her. I apologized realizing I must have fallen asleep after she had left. She then became stern with me and demanded I have him ready for testing because she didn't want to be the one written up if his tests weren't done. I sat up, turned on the lights, and proceeded to fulfill her request, fighting back the urge to break down sobbing. When she returned to take him for testing I asked about how long he would be gone so I would have an idea if I had enough time to rest and how long that would be. At this point I was fearful of falling asleep and Unfulfilling another request. She again sternly stated she had to do the cord blood test that L&D didn't do, the newborn screening, as well as the 90 minute car seat test. And she would be gone however long all those took without delay. I asked...
Read moreThis review is for my mother, Brenda, written by her son, Anthony. My brother and I would like to thank Baylor Scott and White of Irving, TX, so much for saving my mother's life. Yes, they did!!! I have no complaint. My 77-year-old mother, who is very active and gets around good, had been mentioning shortness of breath and chest pain. On June 23rd 2025, symptoms did not go away. We went to Baylor Emergency Room in Irving TX, as I said on June 23rd 2025. After some test, they saw that my mom needed a blood transfusion. Thank you, Dr. White in ER, for knowing, knowing it was not the iron infusion she needed, but it was a blood transfusion. Here is when things got bad, but the doctors, nurses, and techs swung into action! My mother needed to go to the bathroom. Thirty seconds later, the young male nurse and my mom come speeding back to her room. My mother had a hard time breathing. Shortness of breath and chest pains. Coughing, stroking, chest pains, and shortness of breath all at the same time. They rushed into critical care mode. Thank you, Dr White, for saving my mom's. You and God, God First!!! You took care of my mother in that ER and your staff of nurses and Techs. You had to give my mother oxygen instead of a blood transfusion at that time, and fast. After that conversation, he had more X-rays taken at the same time all of this was going on. What the X-rays showed was fluid in my momâs lungs. It was starting to work, The young man who was in charge of supplying my mom oxygen and monitoring her and the equipment did a great job. And a special thanks to the other hospital Doctor that night for talking to me. Baylor kept me informed about my motherâs care and her health. The doctor was finally able to start the blood transfusion and get my mom admitted to PCU. I was going to take some days off from work to be with her. My mother's nurse told me, âYou can if you want to stay with her, but she is in good hands!â and she would be right!!! want to thank the Ultrasound technician for keeping us in good spirits while looking at my momâs heart. He made my mother and me feel at ease. I want to thank the young male nurse who took my phone call on June 25th at around lunchtime to tell my mother hello for me and that I would be there to see her after I get off work. I appreciate Baylorâs Hospital doctor for calling me at work on June 26th, but they had to leave a voicemail message. Nurse Freshia explained to me and my mom what the doctor needed to talk to me about, and the next day we talked. The doctor went into detail on what they could see from the Ultrasound and what they wanted to do on Monday, but if it was alright with me. I started doing research once I got off work, internet made me so worried. Thank you, Nurse Victoria! That internet had me in a bad place; you made it all better. Nurse Victoria, also let me know what time to be at the hospital, to meet with the doctors; They would explain the procedures that were going to be done on Monday morning. Monday morning, and the Doctors came. confirmed what three doctors told me over the weekend. The technicians came to take her for her TEE test. Great job! 11:00 am, PA Jamie and Jessica came in to talk with my mom. They were great! Preparing for the Stress test. I would like to thank the two technicians nurse, and especially PA Nina, who made me feel better. I explained my concern, she told me what the treatment would be if they did find something. I felt so much better. The doctor came in the next morning TEE did not find any further damage. Great news, she could be discharged that day. Stress Test doctor came, heart under stress, it pumped like it was supposed to. great Mom is coming home. Thank the young Chaplain. Saff was available to answer our questions. A musician came into my motherâs room with a piano. He is very talented and his name is Gernard Hill, Music Practitioner. He is an Art of Medicine. Thank you Nurse day, June 2nd, gave her scrubs to wear home, and Patrica, the Technician that day, Baylor never stopped going above...
Read moreI had my baby here last year and I have a family member there now the first time I went was because my doctor dr price sent me there to check my babies heart because she heard an irregular heartbeat mind you this is the reason i end up switching doctors I went here where they monitored me and the baby for hours and i was expected to talk to the doctor and be released since they didn't hear anything irregular... however the doctor at never came he left the hospital to have dinner i was told... I had been there being monitored and waiting on him for about 4-5 hours before having to make the decision with my husband to leave since there was no issues. also the sheet they gave me had a dirt stain that was my first red flag then the doctor leaving for dinner. When I went into labor the hospital was easy to check in to but the nurses didn't have a room ready i went into one that was just mopped still wet not a big deal. Everything else seemed to go right the process of actually delivering was fine I had to have a C-section the anesthesiologist (Indian guy not sure his name) was awesome very confident comforting good with his staff and played music. The biggest issues I had with this place is after delivery: They never put my newborn in a onesie the whole time he was naked just in a diaper I didn't expect them to give me a baby shower but at least a white onesie until we could change him! It a cold ass hospital this isn't my first child either Arlington Memorial and Medical City Arlington provide a basic white onesie and even a little care package of diapers and things you may need. I had to ask the nurses for things like pads and diapers for myself at other hospitals they have more than enough for you in the room already or they bring it eventually. I also had to ask when and if certain people were coming like the lactation consult person and the nurses that were suppose to take my baby a bath it was just weird how helpless i felt there. Another thing is one of the night nurses a black woman really curvy but had an odd name like a stripper?? Very demanding would give me a lot of push back for wanting stronger medicine (mind you the day nurses would offer me it and i didnt really take it unless i needed it) she also would push me to walk which is normal after you have a c-section but she wanted me to get out of bed in the middle of the night to walk around the hall.. I could do that in the day I had to convince her to let me do it in my own room but she was just very pushy it was annoying when youre in pain from delivery. The other nurses were great.
also my family member is there now in ICU went in for some medical problem he ended up in a coma of some sort and at first they didn't h for a few days his mother couldn't find him because they had him checked in under an alias because he tried to harm himself? how does that make sense? Something sounded very off about that I'm not sure if the staff is just unorganized and incompetent or what. Seems very sketchy.
Anyway, Personally never coming back here if you need a good hospital try the ones I mentioned in this post I had a good experiences there & a lot nicer...
