It is my birthday October 6, 2024 and l had my worst fright fest experience on the Jersey Devil Coaster. First, my sister lost her phone and they were saying they couldnโt retrieve it, keep in mind Iโm working at an amusement park and with the maintenance department and watched and helped retrieve loose articles for customers. So it can be an Operational or Mechanical response issue that needs attention. Second the worker at the front upon entering the Constantly Moving Ride says โDONT PULL DOWN THE LAP BARSโ. Me listening and not putting it downโฆ the guy at the front will pull it down AND double check my lap bar doesnโt attend to me and walks away. I see him behind me and ask him โdo l pull my lap bar down?โ Because keep in mind we are at the front end of the platform where the ride stops and he responds โif you wantโ I then pull down my lap bar and he comes back to attend my friend in front of me to take him off the ride and then l call for him to check and he just passes me, he sister behind me heard me yelling and yelling โYo l need help, itโs my birthday, YOโ. THEY LITERALLY START THE RIDE and I DONT GET CHECKED. Third, lm crying because of the ride Also At the fact that the worker is had a reaction to me when l ask him โWhat is your favorite part of waking up for your job and going to this Amusement Park? Given the fact that Iโve worked at an Amusement park and Iโm just trynna give conversation and learn more about him. He responds by saying โWhat does this have to do with this situation?โ I look disappointed because most of the time he gave attitude as he doesnโt want to talk to us even though weโve been respectful given the fact of what WEโVE been through. His manner was the tipping point of my day. Fourth, my man gets banned just because he told the performers behind me to not to scare me, โyou can obviously see that sheโs crying.โ Performers tell the worker that he assaulted them and elbowed them when they werenโt even hit or anything. In ADDITION, the worker cursed out 2 minors on the ride and she got reported by the minors. This is just to show how horrible their work edict is!!! The safety, the attentiveness, and empathy is not there and Iโm so disappointed as a Current Amusement Park Worker being a Customer on my BIRTHDAY. yeah plus this isnโt the first time Iโve came to fright fest ON MY BIRTHDAY, this is my FRIST time bad experience and Iโm not happy. Iโm sorry myself for this day. Iโm not even sure if this is the worst day or l just gotta look through it because life happens. But itโs my birthday they could have been more nicer and greeting. Keep in mindโฆโฆโฆ nun of the supervisors said happy birthday to me like. When this supervisor in Orange๐ถnamed Mark came up, I said โhi โ and he said nothing and I said hi again and he said hello in the worst undertone greeting ever. He did not want to acknowledge me he seemed mad and a Maddy and It made me not wanna have a conversation with him ask him about his day maybe spark up his night if he had a stressful day at the end of the day, no matter what we go through. We all learn through this experience every single day how to manage and control our own emotions And still be attentive to others. No matter what workers are supposed to be able to keep in character, and this includes not cursing out a minor not being on greeted to a birthday girl after she has had a big deep and long situation and lastly, just on like Godโs day a Sunday. Honest to God I regret getting on that devil ride on a Sunday when looking at that single line seat I knew something was wrong and I knew this ride was not gonna be the best.. best ride. All in all, my point is, I am disappointed in my experience at Six Flags even though this is not my first nor my sixth time coming to Six Flags. I just hope to God the next time I come if I feel up to it, the workers are attentive the supervisors are caring and the CEO/ director in chief to help out. All in all every worker needs to learn how to contain themselves because that is something I had to learn as a ride operator MYSELF. Period...
ย ย ย Read moreSIX flags Great Adventure has been my favorite theme park since I was a child. Lots of fun coasters, rides and events. Lots to do for the whole family. My favorite rides are Nitro, Superman, King Da Kah, Runaway Mine Train, Log Flume, Congo Rapids, Dark Knight, Skull Mountain, and Bizarro.
The line to get in the park has been redesigned and it was much faster to get inside! Thank you to the management for fixing this!
My favorite rides that were awesome but they removed and I feel should be brought back: Rolling Thunder Stuntman's Freefall Movie waterfall bridge (this was a group log flume) Great American Scream Machine Wild west area theme buildings (native american tee-pee giftshop, giant western wagon food truck, old time photo booth with costumes) Bumper boats under the logflume. And they used to have a second logflume ride along the lake that was fun.
At my recent visit there were a few problems: The new policy to ban all smoking is awesome and ABOUT TIME!! However, during my visit there were several people smoking in the lines, walking on the paths and smoking, and smoking sitting on the benches and on the ground. The smokers are using cigarrettes, vape and illegal drugs like marijuana. Six Flags needa more security to stop these smokers, revoke their season passes and bam them from the park.
The Dark Knight ride is in extreme need of repair and restoration. The intro projection room is completely shut off now and the 3D AR clown mask tv is not turned on. These simple things are what makes this a THEME ride, and not just a mouse coaster. Please restore this back the way it was.
Skull Mountain during the ride is kind of plain now since the alien skull inside (and other light effects) are no longer turned on. Would be nice to add more elements during this ride to make it feel like you are going inside caves in a mountain.. areas of dim light mixed other areas that have pure darkness would be cool.
Bizarro needs a speed adjustment. I felt like my brain was scrambled a bit for 20 mins after going on this ride. So slowing it down would easily fix this problem. Nitro is perfection.. super fast speeds with larger and smoother turns leaving you with no pain in your head when you get off the ride.
Green Lantern is a great theme ride, but gives you so much body pain and head pain that i think it needs to be replaced with a smooth ride like Nitro.
Need more indoor rides, larger indoor rides to keep the park going in the winter and fall. Maybe an indoor waterpark too?
Food prices are still too high. Should be $10 meal options (main entree with side order for $10). But right now meals start at $14 to $19 per person.
Fireworks.. back in the 1990s, they used to have nightly firework shows over the lake. They would start up a giant fog machine above the water and project movies into the fog and clouds, play music or the movie sounds and shoot fireworks into the same clouds and above it. It was really awesome and a shame that this tradition is gone now.
Park maps.. my visit 2 years ago, we were given a jumbo piece of flimsy paper resembling a diner placemat. Unfolded. Seemed super cheap and disintegrated after folding it up and gone on a few rides. 1 splash from the Log Flume or Congo Rapids and the map would melt into a soggy mess. This visit, they had no maps at all. Pleasr design a new map that is somewhat water resistant, pre-folded, and able to withstand 1 day of use before disintegrating. I used to collect the maps each year because they were colorful, well designed and was a nice souvenir. Please bring these good maps back or make better maps.
Log Flume. When we visited, all the water was drained and ride was closed. Please restore this ride and open it again.
Old West Restaurant next to the log flume. This just needs a few new logs to repair the roof. Inside is still looking awesome. Would be nice to eat downstairs too to see the fish and...
ย ย ย Read moreMy Fiance and our 2 friends from France visited Six Flags Great Adventure on a weekday, arriving at 10:50am. Our experience had its ups and downs due to several factors:
Ride Availability: Kingda Ka: Closed until 2pm, broke down while we were in line, but eventually reopened. Zumanjaro Drop: Closed all day. Back Area (Runaway Mine Train, Log Flume, Medusa): Closed most of the day, opening around 5pm, which we couldnโt return to.
Ride Operations: Many rides (Superman, Green Lantern, Jersey Devil) were operating with only one train, causing long wait times. El Toro was a highlight with multiple trains running, leading to a short wait and an enjoyable ride.
Lockers: New free lockers for El Toro were convenient. Other rides required paid lockers, which was frustrating as we all had zipper pockets.
Food and Beverage: All food, beverage and snacks throughout the park is extremely expensive. The best way to manage this is to buy a meal voucher in advance if you plan on getting food at the park. Granny's required a second line for drinks after food was served, which was inefficient. There should be a lot more refill stations for the refillable drink customers so that they are not crowding the restaurants. The park closed food and drink stations at 7pm, forcing us to use meal vouchers at the funnel cake stand.
Ride Quality: Batman: Super impressed with the improvements. The fresh paint job and new wheels made the ride incredibly smooth, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times. Nitro: No line all day, allowing for multiple rides. Jersey Devil: Great ride but slow-moving line due to single-train operation. Green Lantern & Superman: Both rides were smooth but only one train was operational, leading to long wait times. Kingda Ka: Ride was unusually rough this time, indicating it needs maintenance. Skull Mountain: Some improvements but lacking an overall main theme, making it feel incomplete. Grand Rapids: Needs work. The ride was very rough, and only one of the two loading sides was operational. Despite a short line, parties were forced together to fill boats unnecessarily. Joker: Good and smooth with no wait at all. The Dark Knight: Lacked the usual pre-show, which was disappointing.
Crowd Management: There were many school groups present, leading to a recurring issue with line cutters. Despite having public safety guards posted to the lines, they did nothing to stop the cutters as they were too busy playing games on their cell phones.
Merchandise: We couldn't find any โI Survived Kingda Kaโ merchandise at any of the shops, which was disappointing.
Photo Pass: It was not clear online how the photo pass worked, so we ended up buying two, one for each group, when in reality you only need one for the entire party. Additionally, not all rides have cameras or offer ride photos. The portal for the photos didnโt work properly, and after we left the park and tried to download our photos, they were all watermarked. This happened to both parties in our group. One party had their photos unwatermarked after providing the receipt within one day, but my fiancรฉ and I had to deal with two different support people over the course of a week to get the photos unwatermarked. Very disappointing experience.
General Observations: The park closed earlier than we expected on a weekday, at 7pm. Ride announcements were very difficult to hear due to low volume and poor speaker quality on most rides.
Overall, while we had some positive experiences, like El Toro and Batman, the inconsistent ride operations, additional costs and inconsistent experiences with the lockers, poor crowd management, and issues with the photo pass were significant drawbacks. There are many improvements that Six Flags can implement to enhance the guest experience. I hope to see some positive changes from the...
