HN hair — Attraction in Jacksonville

I cannot say enough about my experience at HN hair boutique in the shopping plaza located next to The Melting Pot Fondue Restaurant and Bouchelle Veterinarian (aka Intracoastal West Vet Hospital), across the street from IKEA. I called them with a hair crisis on Feb 13th as I had company coming in from out of town and they were arriving 24 hours early. I thought that I would have plenty of time to get my hair done the next day but it turns out that I only had hours to find a place to color AND cut about 4 inches off my long hair. I haven't been to a salon in about 2 years due to illness and being bedridden. I had already tried beating down the doors of Foiled Rotten because they are supposedly a huge salon but they would not even answer the phone. When I called HN, the girl who answered the phone (Micayla) was FANTASTIC!!!! She originally paused when I asked about the color because it was already 4:15pm. They didn't close until 8pm but she was worried that there wasn't going to be one stylist who could do both things together. So she said, "Get here as soon as you can and we will find a way to make it work...." I could have kissed the woman through the phone!!! I got up, dressed and rushed over there by 4:45pm. She is actually the one who did my color herself!! As I mentioned, I had not had my hair done in years so I would classify myself as a hot mess! She didn't bat an eyelash but just went to work. She had color on my head in a matter of minutes and then she had to leave for the day. She turned me over to Devin, an extraordinarily talented woman who you could tell has been doing hair for many years. Everyone there was very accomodating to my health needs and my comfort level at all times. She moved all my belongings to her station and began my haircut. She was adept with scissors like Ramsey is with knives in a kitchen!! We had pleasant conversation the entire time and before I knew it, I was beautiful and checking out at the desk. Throughout the process, the ladies were explaining the menu of services, prices that I could afford, how to make appointments in the furure on line, what to do to save me money if I was going to come back as a regular customer because my funds are short and it was obvious that the core group of 4 really work as a team to make the place run like a well oiled machine. I felt no remorse whatsoever leaving a LARGE tip for both women that day and walking out of there at 7pm, I was ready for my company that showed up two hours later. I am so pleased to say that I have a new salon and thank you Foiled Rotten for not answering your phone that day!!! HN you are a gem and I am so glad that I found you in my crisis. What a great experience! I live down the street and happened to be picking up food next door and came across this hair boutique. It looked so cute so I walked in to see if I could schedule an appointment. I have had some trouble finding a salon in the area since moving from N.Y. and I am so happy I stumbled upon this place. When I entered HN, I was immediately greeted by a very kind lady at the front desk who helped get me set up with an appointment later during the week on a day that worked for my schedule. I just got back from my first appointment with Christie and my experience was absolutely fantastic! I was greeted by Christie right away. She was very warm, welcoming and professional. She offered me a beverage and gave me a tour of the boutique. The place is beautiful, clean, well kept and chic. They thought of everything when designing the place. They even have a brow bar where you can get your eyebrows tinted and waxed. They are planning to offer threading in the future as well. Before my hair was washed Christie and I went through the plan for my cut so we had a plan for exactly what my wishes were. They use all natural products which is a huge plus! The wash was great with a really nice scalp massage. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing. The products used are high end. The shampoo is made with peppermint and cayenne pepper, it was almost like aromatherapy for my hair. It was incredibly relaxing. I am super impressed with Christie and it was by far the best haircut I've ever had. She was very attentive and asked for my feedback to ensure I was pleased with the cut as she went along. She did exactly what I asked for and I could not be more pleased. I also had my eyebrows waxed which was a perfect plus! After the wax Christie even took time to style my hair and did some really pretty loose curls! I could not be more pleased. This experience was by far the best I've ever had. I never write reviews so this says a lot. I relocated to Jax and was in search on finding a salon who can do my hair long term. I researched and came across HN hair boutique. They had great reviews so I was confident I found a good reputable salon that can manage my blonde hair (I’m naturally dark haired). My hair isn’t too tough to lift. I called and scheduled an apartment and asked for recommendations on a good stylist who is a blonde specialist. She said everyone is great so she scheduled me with their newest stylist.

I’ve been getting my hair highlighted blonde for over 10 years and never had a bad experience until now. Before getting started I showed a picture of the color I wanted (cool ashy blonde- which I’ve had done many times at other salons in ONE session), the stylist agreed she can get me to that color and it was not a problem. First, the color came out orange and nothing like the picture I showed her and what she agreed to do. Second, I’ve never had such chunky highlights in my life. It doesn’t blend well. I will insert pictures. It was overall a disappointing experience. If the stylist couldn’t lift my hair, then just say that. But please don’t agree to doing my hair according to the picture and it turns out completely different. There also was a patch of hair that was bleached all blotchy and it was very noticeable and I could tell she knew because i kept feeling her touching that area on my head but I guess she figured I wouldn’t notice the patch of bleach. I did call and they had me come back in, refused to fixed the chunky highlights but would fix the Orange color with toner free of charge, but after the toner it looked exactly the same.
