What a funky concept, pairing, Mexican food, and Indian spice so they get something really unique and delicious. All the food was very fresh, and Service was above and beyond. It felt like they valued us having lunch there.
Let's get some of the particulars out-of-the-way. First, there's plenty of parking common in fact we found a parking place near the door. Second it's a counter servic restaurant, so you order at the counter and go down the line like you would see at Subway, Moe's or Kava. So you have all sorts of protein choices, vegetable choices and six main sauces, so every time you go you can have fun, trying a different sauce or a different combinations, so it'll be like going to a completely new restaurant.
OK now the Mexican part, you can get all the bowls as a burrito has a taco. I think they even have a Mexican style pizza.
What you really want to hear about is the FOOD:
Sauces Biryani - sweet, slight kick, delicious. Tikki - Savory with a like more kick. (There are other sauces, but these are the ones we tried.)
Rice: Brown - my choice. White- my wife's choice.
Bead: Plain - my wife. Garlic:- me (yes, we are very different).
Proteins: Paneer - delightful, my favorite. Chicken - nicely seasoned. Goat - the number o e protein worldwide, you should try it, they fo it well. Beef - I know they have it, but we did not try it.
Add ons: Onions and peppers - yes please Jalapeños - no thank you. Tamarind sauce - WOW, that is good. Sour cream - yes, yes, yes Extra spice - no bueno
I thought our food was fabulous, very fresh however, I'm not big on spice and everything they had was very spicy. I figured next time I will order the same bowl but without any sauce and just put Tamarine, which is a combination of Tamarine and dates, on mine. It's meant to be, an extra sauce, but I would like to try to use it as a main sauce so I don't breathe fire while I'm there.
I definitely thought it was worth the short drive from our church, we go out to lunch as a family almost every Sunday. So I’m looking forward to coming back when I can bring the rest of our...
Read moreI had the chance to try Tikka Bowls and Tacos in Jacksonville, FL, and here are my thoughts:
First off, I was intrigued by the concept of an Indian and Mexican fusion restaurant - it was my first time encountering such a combination. Since Indian and Mexican cuisines both rank among my top three favorites, I couldn't resist giving this place a try.
I opted for online pickup and ordered the Tikka Bowl with cilantro white rice, paneer cheese, plant-based chicken, tikka smoked curry, black beans, fajita peppers, cheese, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeño, lettuce, sour cream sauce, cilantro chutney, and pineapple guacamole. The portion size of the Tikka Bowl was massive, to the point where I couldn't finish it all. The combination of flavors was intriguing and, most importantly, flavorful.
I also ordered the Mexican Samosa Chaat, which was good, but there's a caveat. If not eaten quickly, the samosas can become soggy, which affects the overall texture and enjoyment.
Overall, the food was good, and the fusion concept was unique. If I were to try the place again, I'd consider going lighter on the toppings for my bowl, as it was a bit overwhelming in terms of quantity. Nevertheless, Tikka Bowls and Tacos is worth a visit for its interesting and...
Read morePro: A great fusion of Indian and Mexican with out losing the fact Indian is the main focus. The food was delicious and properly prepared. The Indian spices shined in both the samosas, burrito, or the bowl. The garlic naan while thinner and not as fluffy as I normally am accustomed to it was still delicious. The samosa was brilliantly prepared. Bowl and burrito was great and very filling. The customer service was warm and inviting but not over bearing as some restaurants tend to do.
Con: I would recommend using a tad bit more salt as apart of the recipes preferably kosher salt or sea salt. This would greatly enhance the Indian spices. As a culinarian I know you have be light on the salt for health and allergy reasoning but with all the beautiful spices they use the salt would add needed pop to the dishes outside of the samosas. Lastly while they have a great selection of toppings it is somewhat limited. May I recommend adding a few more topping options or have a rotating selection based on popularity. These are all subjective based on my taste buds.
Overall: a great place to have a quick lunch or a quick casual dinner. A great place to grab a good bit of Indian fusion food while feeling welcomed and appreciated for giving the...
