Finding the right hairdresser is, for some women, like searching for the perfect mate. Get hooked up with the wrong one, and severing the relationship can be awkward or downright ugly. Most of us have to kiss a lot of frogs before we find our Prince Charming. In my search for the perfect hairdresser, I went through a long string of stylists that each had their own strengths, but for one reason or another, just didn't quite work for me. Several were inconveniently located, a couple of them tended to give me the color or style they wanted me to have or what was easiest for them, rather than what I wanted. One constantly worked several clients at one time, yet charged me as though I had her undivided attention. Another was so arrogant, he practically threw a tantrum when I was dissatisfied with the color job he did, which was not even close to the color I asked for. One hairdresser often had her toddlers running around the salon during my appointments. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but going to the hairdresser is supposed to be a relaxing, pampering sort of experience. Sharing your hairdresser with two squealing babies is something I don't want to pay $150+ for.
I was referred to Hope, the owner of Nelson Crew, by a coworker whose hair always looks awesome. I have been going to Hope for probably 2 years now and couldn't be happier. She's never stood me up or made me wait or hurried me through my appointment, and I'm always happy with the results. The atmosphere is relaxing, the stylists all get along, and it's just a pleasant place to be. As far as the expense, I think the prices are very fair. Hey, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a "bargain" hair stylist, good luck with the outcome. I've been to stylists who charge more and stylists who charge less, but the bottom line is, I've finally found someone I trust and whose company I enjoy, and in 2 years, she has not raised her prices one penny. Any trained professional with years of experience deserves to be fairly compensated for her services. I would definitely recommend this salon to any of my friends looking for high-quality hair care at a price that is not bargain-basement, but definitely fair for the level of atmosphere and service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKaren Fuller is amazing! Since moving to Jax I have bounced around trying to find someone who can handle delicate, blonde, hypothyroid hair. Karen was so sweet and concerned about keeping my hair as healthy as possible while achieving a nice ashy blonde that complimented my skin tone. She did a perfect trim with my color without sacrificing the length I want while growing out my hair. Pricing was very reasonable in my opinion as well. I waited a few weeks to see how the color lasted and everything looks perfect still,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have received the worst service at this salon. I called to complain and attempted to speak to the owner Hope and for the last 3 weeks I have left messages for her and I am told she's going to call me back. She never has. I spoke to the manager and she was a b*tch, hung up on me 3 times and refused to give me her name. I will never go back here again. The worst customer...
