I have been a regular at Rio for over two years now and had previously never had a bad experience. However, my most recent experience was disappointing and unprofessional. I am a university student who lives out of state and had scheduled an appointment with Chantz while I was back in town - I needed a cut and color touch-up for my graduation & grad pics. Two hours before my appointment, Chantz texted me, canceling the appointment and needing to reschedule. He offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience, which I appreciated because I scheduled the appointment far in advance and was only in town for a week. After confirming the new appointment, I showed up at the agreed-upon date/time and waited for an hour. He never showed. A couple of other stylists were aware that I had been waiting and attempted to get in contact with him, but he was entirely unresponsive. I had a flight back to school later that evening and was put in a very difficult position. Ashley and Autumn were extremely welcoming and offered to make time in their schedules to do my hair. Apprehensively, (as I’ve only ever had Chantz - who's been there for years - cut & color my hair) I had Ashley touch up my balayage and Autumn cut my hair. They both did a wonderful job and I am appreciative of the time and work that they put in, but in the nearly 5 hours that I was at the studio, no one was able to get in contact with Chantz. I do not believe it should be coming out of Autumn or Ashley’s paycheck because they did me a favor, but not only did I not receive the 10% rescheduling discount, but after waiting an hour for him on the rescheduled date, I received no discount at all. I’m not sure if the owner was made aware of the situation, but I feel as though she should have been. Additionally, given the circumstances, she should have offered not only an apology but a greater discount or store credit. It’s been over 48 hours since the appointment and I was hoping to have heard from Chantz - if not someone such as the owner - with an apology, but I have not. Given his unresponsiveness during and since the appointment, I hope that he is in good health, but regardless, the situation was unprofessional.
I do want to emphasize that I am extremely appreciative and extend gratitude to Ashley and Autumn for stepping in; I am happy with my hair. My rating is not a reflection of their work, but rather a rating of how the business is run; the situation on everyone else’s behalf should have been handled more...
Read moreUpdate: I spoke with the owner & she apologized & offered to fix it up but at this point I can’t afford for anymore to be cut off. She explained to me that her stylist Rylee confirmed with me that I wanted more cut off which I DID NOT. She cut my hair dry, washed it & said she would cut the rest & never checked once to see if it was at a good length until she was done & it was too short. The owner’s apology didn’t seem genuine & with the way she came across, I would not be comfortable stepping foot in that salon again. She had the audacity to say well at least your hair will grow 1/2 inch. My wedding is in less than 25 days…. She also stated the obvious “well as you know, there’s no way I can make your hair grow.”
$42 for this cut is an insult & I feel I was robbed & butchered. I was told over the phone that they offer payment revisions for such situations but I was not offered any kind of refund or partial refund like what was offered to another reviewer when her hair was cut too short (clients are not all equal). At this point I’m not even sure why she bothered to call me… I wish I hadn’t felt pressured at the time to tip 20% (as that is my usual) but that there was my mistake next to booking here.
Original post: The stylist I had scheduled changed less than an hour prior to my hair appointment. I should’ve known right there that that was a red flag.
My wedding is less than a month away & my hair was cut 3 inches too short & is super uneven. The back is so short it looks like a long bob. Do NOT recommend. My hair is ruined.
It’s important to tell someone when they are getting someone who is not experienced. Yes the stylist was young but she also stated she was an assistant at another salon. An assistant. I did not say anything there about my hair because I was in utter shock & hadn’t really gotten to feel it & also wanted to wash it first. Will not be returning. Pic of what I got vs...
Read moreIt really is true when they say if you find a good hair dresser keep going back to them. First of, everyone is really nice at RIO, they are welcoming, the place is always clean and just a nice environment overall. About 2-3 years ago I went to get my hair done with Isabelle and she did an OUTSTANDING JOB. Since then, I have trusted her with my hair completely. I don't get my hair done often it's a once in a blue moon type deal but when I do get my hair done, I am picky and rigid with what I want. Isabelle took my jumbled nonsensical ideas and beautifully put it into a realistic image that works. I am so happy and thankful for people like her who truly listen to their clients versus shutting their ideas down without a solution. One year I needed a touch up on my highlights and Isabelle was booked out so I used a new hair dresses at RIO who was also kind and awesome but did not listen to me at all. She gave me highlights that I did not see any changes to my hair, I literally came home and none of my family members noticed I had my hair done they even said it looked the same. And at that time, I was very specific with that hair dresser and showed her pictures and she talked me out of every decision I wanted and completely did her own thing. That hair dresser was a good hair dresser however, she did not understand or connect with my personality and did not see my image. I went back to Isabelle ever since who continues to do my hair exactly how I want. I went there a week ago and I don't even know what I said for what I wanted and Isabelle was like I know exactly what you want. Yup, she was right because I...
