This is a 14 acre park that showcases an award-winning design by Carol R. Johnson and Associates of Boston, Mass. The site was designed to incorporate a previous landfill, construction fill site and to serve as the background for a winding pathway representing the trip of the New River from where it bubbles up near Richlands to the New River Inlet.

The mounds were created using repurposed fill that was removed to restore the wetlands that help to clean the Wilson Bay from the years of abuse from the Wilson Bay Wastewater...

It's a nice and pretty clean park. Some of the boardwalks are overgrown but most of them are really pretty. There's a playground and a big hill with lots of open space and a pretty water view. There are boardwalks out to the water too. No bathrooms, from what I saw, but still a good park. Saw quite a few wildlife too. Saw squirrels, birds, pelicans, and a stork. It also has alligators but I didn't see any. Overall, I had a good time. Would be a good place to take dogs too, and there are bags...

Sturgeon City Park was a compost drop-off point for the City of Jacksonville, NC. Now renewed as a park. Wilson Bay Park, Kerr Street, L.L. Willingham Waterfront Park and Riverwalk Park are all nearby. Sturgeon City Park overlooks the New River and the beautiful bypass. There are tables, circular walking trails along the waterway and a Playstation. Yes Pets No restrooms You can walk to a restroom at Wilson Bay Park a few steps away.
