Update: Since the owner wanted to have a smart response. Take some advice. You only grow if you’re willing to take constructive criticism and put in effort to do better. But it seems you feel you have nothing to improve on and everyone is wrong except for you. Everytime someone leaves a bad review all they do is get defensive and SMART with that person. Extremely unprofessional. Original Review: I wanted to like this place. It is new in the Jacksonville area and it sounded great. I am originally from South LA so I thought going here was going to be impressive. I also saw the reviews about how the place was really great but I was disappointed on my first visit and wanted to give an honest review. My family and I stopped by for breakfast and it all started off wrong. For starters we were waiting to have our order taken and we thought nobody was on the floor taking orders yet but it turns out one of the waitresses was sitting at a table having a whole conversation with two individuals until she decided it was time to get up and finally take our order. And I know she saw us waiting because we made eye contact. On top of that her face and demeanor gave off “I don’t want to be here” vibes. That alone doesn’t make people want to really come back especially if you’re sitting around looking bored too. She looked unhappy and bothered to have to be helping us. The food took a while to come out as well almost 15 minutes. But we didn’t mind at first because we figured it didn’t matter as long as the food tasted great. Once the food was out my order was awful. The sausage was undercooked and had tiny raw bits in it, I couldn’t believe it. The eggs looked burnt and had charring marks from the skillet where they tossed the same sausage in so my eggs tasted like sausages. I could tell they didn’t wash their utensils properly. The pancakes I ordered were “Cajeta” pancakes. I was excited about them and when I received them they weren’t even close to what they were supposed to be. If you’re Hispanic right off the bat you can taste when Latin dishes aren’t right or they’re missing something. They also offer on their menu freshly squeezed orange juice and trust me there is nothing fresh about it you can tell it’s from a bottle. The lack of effort in preparing the food and also lying about what they’re really serving was again dissapointing. Make sure you thoroughly check your food is cooked well. I don’t think I’d ever go back there.

We came in for breakfast and were greeted by a young man at the entrance who, surprisingly, wasn’t even a server. However, he provided us with better customer service than our actual server did. The food was good, but it was somewhat overshadowed by the lackluster service. We ordered chilaquiles, which were quite tasty. The sauce was a bit overwhelming, but the steak was cooked perfectly, and the eggs were excellent. My wife chose the “Life’s a Risk” waffle, and the presentation was amazing. The waffles were cooked just right, along with everything else on her plate. The chicharrones were brought out at the same time as our entrees, so we couldn't enjoy them fully, but they were fresh out of the oil, and the guacamole was fantastic! The music and atmosphere were wonderful, which compensated for the lack of enthusiasm from our server. She seemed disinterested, and despite our friendly attempts, we didn’t receive much in return. In contrast, the other servers around us were walking with big smiles and attended to their tables very well, so I guess it was just a matter of luck. I would definitely recommend this place, but just be mindful of the enthusiasm of the servers.

First impressions of Chicano's was overall pretty good. The first thing to mention is there is no parking. You have to park at the jail, across the street. There's no traffic, so the walk isn't bad to the restaurant. I was greeted right away and seated to wait for my friend. The atmosphere is beautiful. It's wide open, light, airy and relaxing. There's some couches with games, tv's on the walls and a good amount of seating. However, the table was sticky and the chairs are metal, which are never comfortable. The waitress asked for our drink order right away. My Miller Light on tap was especially delicious. They had pineapple aqua Fresca on the menu, but I was told they did not have it. I'm unsure if they didn't sell it or they were out of the ingredients to make it. One thing I noticed, is there is nothing on the tables. No salt, pepper, hot sauce, napkins, etc. I ordered the Ellies tacos and my friend had the street tacos. The flavor was pretty good, although, it definitely needed salt...which was not on the table. I'm sure if I asked, the waitress would have brought me some, but I didn't feel like waiting. My friend and I both agreed the corn tortillas tasted old. They were hard and stale, like they had been microwaved. The tacos do not come with any kind of sides. We also got chips and queso, which were delicious. The chips were freshly fried, but had no salt. (Is there a salt shortage I'm unaware of? Lol) The queso was perfect and they give you a lot of it. I'm not sure I've been to a restaurant that gives you a decent amount of queso, but they did. We didn't even finish all of it. The music was nice and not too loud. And other families seemed to enjoy their time while they were there. I will definitely try them again...

I recently went to Chicano Street Kitchen and was impressed by the newly renovated space. It was a clean & welcoming environment that I would classify as rustic with a street vibe to match the name of street kitchen with a great selection of music.

This was my first time being there, so I went with their breakfast special which was called the Cyprus Hill. The Cyprus hill is an order of chorizo breakfast tacos that keeps it simple and directly to the point with: chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. What can I say as anything with chorizo but an explosion of flavors! Perfect for any breakfast lover looking to spice things up, these tacos will leave you satisfied and ready to take on the day.

The service I received was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly making my dining experience even more enjoyable.

To me Chicano Street Kitchen is a gem for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Mexican American breakfast and dinner style restaurant in a clean and inviting atmosphere with top-notch service. They corner the market in the area Mexican American breakfast and I highly recommend it! Look forward to coming back for brunch and dinner food choices.

One thing that could be improved on is the bar seating; which is uncomfortable and doesn’t do the rest of the establishment justice but that’s a simple suggestion. Overall your team and establishment is killing it already!
