As anyone living in Chicago knows, storage is a must when living in a big city. That normally means over priced units, in old buildings. This not only applies to many apartments throughout the city but also the storage units we come to rely on.
After years of over paying for storage at a facility that didn't value me as a customer, I was happy to stumble upon Cube Smart on Diversey Ave. Located inside the old Marshall Fields Warehouse and directly next to the new Cermak Produce, this facility is in a prime location.
Besides being in a great location, the facility is brand new. Just opened in November 2016, and is in incredible condition. My wife and I have been welcomed with opened arms by Bill the General Manager and his staff. Bill has taken time out of his schedule to get to know us personally. He has said hello recognizing us by name, and has even waved goodbye when we leave the facility.
It may seem like something small, or non important to some, but to use its customer service and hospitality you just don't get very often these days. Sure it's just a storage unit, but to feel welcomed and valued is important when you have many places to choose where to spend your money. It in turn makes us respect Bill, the facility and the company that much more.
I highly recommend Cube Smart on Diversey Ave to anyone looking for storage in the city. The pricing is incredibly competitive, and as already mentioned the facility is brand new. Located on the far west side, it may be a commute for some, but I strongly consider you call Bill and take a visit. Once you do I can promise you, you won't regret it. Truly a hidden gem...
Read moreYes, first of all, when I walked in the facility, I had my money ready. The worker that was there, put my money on the desk and the foul rain. He answered the phone and let me sit in there. So when he finally took us up to the unit that I won our storage treasures, he said he was gonna be on lunch until 2 o'clock. I came back down within ten minutes loaded, my truck went around, set in my truck and come to find out.He was in their service to customer. So I proceeded to go in and I said, excuse me, may I have my deposit back?He said, no, you're gonna wait.My customers sitting in a chair. But when I was in there at first I was the only person in there and his phone rang, and he made me wait until he got through with his phone call that he answered after I sat down. Then he proceeded to tell me that if the person that owns the storage unit calls him, then he'll take their payment instead of taking my payment. And I'm right in front of him, that is not good customer service. You take the customer that's in front of you, not leave them sitting there. Read moreI rented a unit online. Which was easy . I received an email with instructions about my unit. The next day (July fourth) I packed a few things and headed to storage. The garage space is clean , they have Dollies to use and the elevator is pretty huge . The only issue was that once I packed everything into the car and then into the dolly and made my way to the fourth floor . I found my unit. It didn’t have the temporary combination lock or hang tag the email mentioned . It had a yellow lock that needed a key. To which I didn’t have. I ended up dragging my things back downstairs and into my car . And needed to call it quits being that I had nowhere to put my things in . That was an inconvenience, especially being that it was almost 90 degrees. I did call the number in the email but no luck. Im going to try again today . This is an added comment: the next morning I did have two separate managers get I touched with me and they were really nice and apologized. I did end up showing up the next day and was able to get in. The parking garage is huge as well for those who have moving trucks. And it’s a pretty clean storage...
