My experience with bridal beauty team was less than stellar. I loved my hair and makeup at the trial, but the service I got on the day of was not good. They stylists showed up on time, and some of my girls liked their hair but one had to have it redone twice, it just didn’t look like the pictures of a simple ponytail. When I went to get my makeup done, the stylist couldn’t find the pictures or notes from my trial. I thought it was not a big deal since I had my pictures, but the makeup she did on me looked nothing like what I had done in my trial. I asked for some changes during the touch up time and I looked great, but it was not what I initially asked for. My grandma was having health issues the weeks leading up to my wedding, so I reached out over three weeks before and asked to have those services removed but was unable to since the final invoice had been sent to me. I sucked it up and just paid for these services anyway, and the stylists were scheduled to be with us until 1:45 PM, so I figured we would have more time for touch ups. This was not the case. Two of the three stylists packed up very quickly and seemed eager to get out of there before noon. The one stylist stayed a bit longer and help fixed my one bridesmaids hair, and then I asked her for a simple change on my hair (the bride) and she seemed very upset and my sister even commented that she was being rude about it. I tipped her an extra $20 for her time on top of the 20% tip that is automatically included. I ended up feeling really beautiful, but many of my girls were unhappy with their hair and makeup and one even took her makeup off and reapplied. I just learned that they were not even asked what they wanted done for their makeup. Today I came back from my honeymoon and saw I was charged nearly $50 without my knowledge for parking for the stylists, even though I reserved spots for them in the lot and communicated this with them via email the week before the wedding and on the day of. When I reached out to Kate and Gina about this, Kate sent me rudely toned emails back. Overall, I was happy with how I looked on my big day but it was not worth the $195 I payed as a gift per bridesmaid and mothers, plus the unused service.
Update after owners response - not sure what I did to deserve a comment like that, but this just shows you the professionalism of the owner. Her and I have never even spoken...
Read moreI am so happy and thankful that I chose Kate Johnson Artistry for my hair and makeup on my wedding day! Kate is a WIZARD. It was beyond beautiful and I felt like a princess. I looked like the best version of myself. It wasn't over the top and perfectly fit my vision for the day and for my dress!
Kate is beyond talented at what she does. I have a massive amount of hair and no one can ever get it to do what they want. Kate is a master stylist and showed her expertise from the first phone call. I priced out and talked with several hair and makeup artists before choosing Kate. Kate called me on the phone instead of just emailing back and forth so we could get a sense of one another. She was so knowledgeable and put my mind at ease about all the questions and concerns I had.
Kate has the experience to back up what she does. I enjoyed the whole process from the trial at the salon to having Kate in our home helping me get ready on my wedding day. I felt confident because Kate made sure I looked and felt my best, and she was so calm and personable. On the day of the wedding she felt like a part of our family and that meant so much to me as I was having a small and intimate wedding. Kate even gave hair tips to my mom and officiant while they got ready - to make sure everyone looked amazing.
Every person commented on how beautiful and perfect my makeup and hair looked. I am a very critical of myself and also a perfectionist. Kate made sure I felt 100% about how I looked and that made me feel beautiful inside and out. I was truly glowing on my wedding day. My makeup looked incredible even after 8 hours of photos, crying, dancing, etc.. It was a dream come true. Kate is a true professional and a warm and loving person. I cannot recommend her and her team enough! Kate Johnson is a true artist and I felt so lucky to have her do my hair and makeup for the most important...
Read moreMy experience with the Bridal Beauty Team was through my Elope to Chicago package. This review is specifically for Rosie, my assigned hair and makeup artist.
I had no prior communication with Rosie (this is typical for elopement packages), so I was anxious about how my experience would go. On the day of my wedding, Rosie arrived early and helped put my mind at ease with her professionalism. She communicated with me about what my desires for hair and makeup were and was transparent about the results I could achieve without having done a trial session.
Rosie described her extensive experience with makeup artistry so that also put my mind at ease as she worked on my makeup. And despite not having done a trial session, I was very pleased with my hair and makeup results. Not only did Rosie help me feel beautiful on my wedding day, but my hair and makeup also looked amazing in my wedding photos! I was also pleased with how my makeup lasted from morning to evening, something I've never been able to achieve on my own. The key components I loved about my look: airbrush highlight that looked amazing in photos, false lashes that elevated the entire look, and my perfectly styled fringe.
Beyond hair and makeup, Rosie brought a lot of positive energy to the appointment, helping set the tone for my wedding day. She shared interesting life stories with me, which helped distract me from my wedding jitters. She answered any question I had about what product she was using and offered to text with me afterwards if I had any further questions about products. Talking to her felt like talking to a friend, which really helped me considering I was eloping!
