I had the privilege of attending the final performance of Macbeth at Invictus Theatre today, and it was nothing short of astonishing. From the moment I walked into the theater, I was drawn into the dark, sinister atmosphere of the play. The three witches were already on stage as the audience entered, setting the tone for the intense and haunting experience to come.
The acting was absolutely superb—so much so that I found myself holding my breath at times, completely captivated by the performances. The actors delivered Shakespeare's lines with such precision and emotion that I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage. Every word and gesture drew me deeper into the story, leaving me utterly exhausted (in the best way possible) by the end.
The production values were equally remarkable. The set design, costumes, makeup, and sound and lighting effects all worked together to create an immersive experience. The sounds of thunder, rain, screeching owls, and cats added a spine-chilling layer of realism to the performance. Even fog! The witches, in particular, were a standout. Their portrayal as frightening hags with an unsettling, almost sexual weirdness, made their presence both terrifying and mesmerizing.
The theater itself, located at 3014 W. Irving Park Road, was a pleasant surprise. While larger than I expected, it maintained a cozy, neighborhood charm. The venue felt intimate yet professional, enhancing the connection between the audience and the actors.
The dedication and energy of the cast and crew were evident in every scene. I can only imagine how exhausted—but proud—they must feel after delivering such a stunning and powerful performance.

They do not offer much in the way of concessions but there are good bars and...
Read moreFor Shakespeare lovers or for those wanting a good scare, I recommend MACBETH. The verse is spoken clearly, at a quick pace. Interesting staging also keeps the production moving along. There are many electrifying performances. It isn't my interpretation of the play, but I found the final preview to be well-performed, spoken & staged. Thanks to Invictus & the entire MACBETH team for a...
