Office of the City Clerk - Gale — Attraction in Jefferson Township

I have been coming here for years and never had any issues. I did notice another of one star reviews, and today, I see why. I entered with about 10 people in front of me. No problem line was moving at a reasonable pace. There was a gentleman who was standing directly behind me (a to b); in other words, if he was standing this close to your daughter, you would absolutely say something. While in line, the security tells me to move up, which I did. I also replied to the security lady I need at least one arms distance pertaining to the gentleman directly standing over my shoulder. The security immediately said I was getting a supervisor, which I thought was odd. The supervisor lady approaches me and says on the camera I was blocking the doorway (a complete lie!). In other reviews, I notice managers lying to citizens as well. This makes sense and is the truth. I stated I was nowhere near the doorway, and I was standing in front of this column. The manager then says "well I understand you don't want to be around people." I was thinking at this point this manager is literally fabricating lies and for what reason. I told her I never said that. I told her that this gentleman is all up on me, and I need him out of my personal space. She then tells me I doubt he wants to stand next to me. Again, thinking to myself, did you not hear what I just said. She asked me to stand out of the line away from everyone, i said no, thank you. She didn't even address my complaint and walked away. I proceeded to the counter and paid for my city sticker.

Long story short, go into this establishment with a witness and file an official complaint against this management when they lie or single you out and fabricate, threatened video footage.

The manager frankly should be fired for lying and consider legitimate reasonable issues, not just humiliate...

I visited this office today to obtain a city sticker for a vehicle I had just purchased. The location has limited parking, which creates a challenging situation since you need the sticker to legally park but must park to get the sticker - a catch-22 that adds unnecessary stress to the process.

The staff processed requests efficiently and the line moved at a reasonable pace. However, the current system doesn't accommodate same-day vehicle purchases well. A dedicated express line for new vehicles would greatly improve the experience for residents trying to comply immediately after buying a car. I needed to go to a Clerk’s Office because the currency exchange cannot transfer city stickers.

At the counter, the clerk said there was an issue with my previous vehicle's sticker renewal from February 2025. She stated that she could not transfer the sticker to my new vehicle because the check didn't clear. When I tried to explain the situation, the clerk picked up the phone and asked for a supervisor before allowing me to explain what had happened. I had mailed in my renewal, but after 30 days without receiving the sticker, I purchased one at a currency exchange to avoid city sticker tickets. The city later returned my original check since I had already gotten a sticker from the currency exchange. Once I was able to explain this sequence of events she processed the transfer of my city sticker for my new vehicle. She also explained that the city can have delays and it isn't uncommon for city stickers to take over 30 days for customers to receive them.

The office would benefit from allowing residents to provide context before escalating issues, which would make interactions feel more collaborative and help staff understand situations...

This bad review is directly to the lady wich I will later fill in the blank because I am thinking of return to get her name. Wears her hair up, dark brouwn with some highlight. With an attitude and very thick BLACK frame of eye glasses the only one wearing that type. Super dude she Roll her eyes at me. Yet challenge me when I said we can look at the cameras. It was my first time purchasing a city of Chicago sticker she overheard my story through the other tellers. Was in a couple of times with out proper explination they confused me even more reason why I kept coming back and because in the webside it did jot say I needed registration of car. No one even bothered to tell me that the permit number is imprinted in the city sticker that was my confusion also. As if I was supposed to know what stickers look like. I thought it was a separate thing. No one explained it well but this particular teller was the rudest, I knew I should have walked away literally she bully me and immediately had some one KINDER take care of me. I asked why I had to pay so much she says you never show me when you move to Chicago well they never asked me when did I you move to Chicago in order to charge me less. I would have gone home to get my apartment contract and then if I have the contract. I would have saved so much money I'm thinking of going back to get reimbursed somehow or either get her name. She should not work with the public she's in the wrong job with Zero patience. Hope more people write bad reviews for her. To be continued...
