Shabbona Park — Attraction in Jefferson Township

My son loves to here after school but we will never return again. I was there one afternoon with my son who was 6 years old at the time and there was a crowd of gentleman smoking directly in freon if the park house I approached once of them and had asked if I could pay him for a cigarette to which he replies no so I returned back to my son in the playground. Some time goes by and was approached by a park employee who asked me what I was doing there and if I had a problem. I told him no I was fine that I was there with my son. He then proceeds to tell me that I looked sketchy and that I needed to not bother people or to smoke or ask for any all the while the crowd of guys smoke away and he said nothing to them. I was extremely offended. So not only does he say I basically looked like some kind of criminal. Then when we went to the bathroom he had the nerve to come in after a few seconds of my 6 year old son and myself to practically watch us to see if we were doing something wrong. Now I could see if I looked like some type of hoodlum (however they look?) then possibly I could understand. But that's still profiling. my son and I at the time were the only Latinos in the park and he said nothing to the caucasian people the doing the same things we were doing, which was watching our kids play. I've never felt so embarrassed before. I wasn't even that upset at first but then he followed my son and I into the bathroom and treated us BOTH like criminals that's. I've never experienced...

Great park..but the management are very bad. Dirty. Owners of the dogs are worst than the animals. The dogs s...t everywhere. Owners having fun allowing the dogs running after squirells and rabbits...very bad habbitat of most pet owners. And the park security dont do anything...because they dont even appear there once a while I feel sorry seeing beautiful park being destroyed by pet owners. Isometime i think they are bigger animals than the animals them self. Especially owner of 2 german shepards on loose let the dogs kill the rabbits front of the kids? Its not a single case is happen all the time Where are the security?????????

Park very poorly managed,park grounds not well kept shameful to say the least as a resident of the shabona park area im not pleased with conditions it seems there is no oversite in the running of the park grafeti,broken benches lites out all throughout park,exposed wires on lite polls , broken underground water line near front of park its been like this for some time and the tennis court the nets are deplorable most are held up by shoestrings been this way for some time now can some one please fix the broken Windows on field house I guess they didn't budget it in the recent rehab they completed around one year ago lastly someone should get the garbage cans emptied on a...
