This was our first visit to Bartucci restaurant. We traveled from the far western suburbs and it was well worth the trip. This place has the most amazing Italian food with fresh herbs from their garden out back, gluten-free pasta options and friendly service. We sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the Saturday evening. Our table of 5 started off with fried mozzarella and fried calamari. I've eaten a lot of calamari in my life but this was the bomb. It didn't even need sauce. The light and fluffy coating was perfect. The fried mozzarella was yummy too.
For dinner, I ordered gluten-free pasta with vodka sauce, peas, and Italian sausage. It was excellent! The gluten-free pasta was perfectly done and the sauce was a wonderful blend of multiple levels of flavor. Other dishes we ordered included the gnocchi, and gluten free carbonara. Servings were plentiful and all were beyond excellent.
For dessert, we all split the mama/papa tiramisu and cannolis. My fav was the mama tiramisu in a jar. Smooth, creamy and delicious.
What I love most about this place is what Gino is doing here. Traveling to Rome to get recipe ideas, the fresh herbs and veggies out back, the fresh homemade pasta, the authenticity, and his vision. One Sunday every month he brings in a guest cook - an Italian grandmother or nona - to bring her cooking experience to the kitchen. What a wonderful way to pass on those secrets that might otherwise be lost. We will be coming back to experience one of these special cooks!
Thank you for a wonderful evening...
Read moreVery, very disappointed!! Horrible except for my husband’s birthday. Very sad but they almost destroyed our party, thank god we have great friends and we turn on everything to the fun side. Terrible service, really, really bad.. I never had that problem before with so rude and unprofessional staff..!! First at all waiter why took our order got all mess up. Pour guy was so confused, he didn’t know where he was at all. I don’t know if this was his first table to serve but he really needed some help and he never got that. We waited so long, I thought food would never come out. And then suddenly he start serving all plates, one by one, with wrong order, double some plates. After we told him it was wrong he started come out with more plates, letting us know that chefs wanted to give us.. At all that time, he had the pleasure to have very mad and rude helping girl, who was throwing up on the table in front our faces all the silverware! Like you can see how disgusted she was from all of us! Showing no respect at all. Knocking on the table with water bottles. Never responded to me or someone else asking for anything! If I was manager she would be fired right away! Any way, time for birthday cake. Even more disappointed. Pour server come out with cake in paper box, placing it on the wrong side, back to my husband face, with back side candles. It was so sad I just started laughing. But any way, I will never again go to this restaurant, worst experience ever..!! Don’t recommend at all! Please read reviews first. That...
Read moreSadly disappointing. Nice slow service....similar to being in italy!!! Unfortunately so slow that when food finally came they brought the first persons dish, literally 5 minutes later my dish....another 5 plus for our 3rd persons dinner and then finally 7 minutes later my wifes dish. At least she had a hot dinner. Food lacked any real flavor, pasta was OK...and that's unfortunate...starch over powers food. Appetizers took 20 minutes for the Mista, consisting of 2 squid and 2 shrimp for 20 bucks....lol 10 minutes later 4 meatballs that are not worth describing if you ever had one from costco.....and a 29 minute wait for our dinner....as I already described that above. They asked if we wanted desert and it was almost 10pm.....after over 2 and a half hours, we were done or just afraid what might show up if we ordered.. Alot of hype, long talking tradition, but we really miss Caponies on Harlem. Also, maybe at the prices they charge you can have the waiter in something other than white undershirt.....really bad show. Oh yeah.....they hit us for a $10 corking fee per bottle!!!! A 3.5% additional fee to use a credit card....i was check to see if there was an additionaldining fee to be added.....these are the costs of doing business.... who does this? I know alot if places do....but should be noted and included in any honest review. 2 stars. Get your act together and deliver the level, quality and service that you boast for a price that befits the location...
