Menard's is one of my favorite places to shop. We make the trip here at least once a month from Louisville and over time we've dubbed it Menard's Weekend.
First off, if you're looking for it, chances are you'll find it at Menard's. Electronicals? Check. Dog food? Check. Frozen pizza? Check. Household cleansers? Check. Refrigerators? Check. Lumber? Check. Christmas trees? Check.
You get the point. It's ALL there. There are even items we find at Menard's that we can't find elsewhere (our favorite dog treats we can only find here.) (That is to say, our DOG'S favorite dog treats we can only find here. We don't eat them, that would be weird.)
We bought our swimming pool at Menard's a couple summers ago. This last weekend we bought some brand new Christmas decorations.
This store is massive and it's easy to get turned around in the center aisles. The garden center is outstanding during garden center season, and we bought 6 crepe myrtles there which are thriving in our back yard.
The staff has always been helpful and I think everybody that works there knows where just about everything is. More often than not they'll take you to what you're looking for instead of casually waving you in the direction you need to go.
They almost always have a 11% rebate offer going on, which is great when you go back. Heck, they even have the rebate forms right there at the checkout to make it easy for you. Fill out the form, mail it in with a copy of your receipt, and in a couple weeks you get a rebate form that you'll turn right around and spend in their store.
Speaking of money (which we only marginally were), the prices at Menard's a pretty frikkin' reasonable. Like any merchant, prices can be higher or lower on various items, but we find that the prices here are generally lower than other hardware/building supply/general merchandise locations.
My only real complaint is that they can be slow to realize that the need to open more registers. On our last visit there were two registers open and the lines were literally 12 to 15 customers deep (I counted). It made me wonder if I was at Walmart or if I was at Menard's. That tends to be the exception and not the rule, so don't that dissuade you from shopping there.
If you haven't been to Menard's it's time to give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. We may even see you there on...
Read moreI purchased an upright freezer on 10/17 and specifically asked if they could hold it for a few days and they assured me as soon as I paid they would pull it and hold it for up to a week. My husband called when he was on his way down just to give them a heads up. I then got a message saying they made a mistake and sold it to someone else! I then talked to a girl named Rhianna who was the rudest person I've ever had to deal with! She had a hard time understanding why I was upset because after all she said I could purchase a chest tight freezer! If I wanted one of those I would have gotten one. She was oblivious to the fact they sold a freezer I had bought and paid for and ask "what exactly did I want them to do about it!" Then informed me she was not going to stay on the phone and get yelled at! I was not yelling! I was upset! They took my money then sold my posession two days later! My husband was on his way to pick it up when I told them what they did. He then talked to a girl that happened to have her name tag on backwards so you couldn't see her name and ask if she was the manager and she said no and he ask if one was available and she said no. At that time a guy was standing there and ask what was going on. It was the manager. His name was Josh. So my husband asked what her name was. It was Rhianna! They both were incredibly rude and could've cared less about what happened to us. Rhianna blamed it on the cashier, when in fact it was her department that handled it. The cashier just took my money. So we were told pretty much we we're s**t out of luck!!! THEY RESOLD A PRODUCT THAT DIDN'T BELONG TO THEM TO SELL! PRETTY SURE A COURT WOULD HAVE ISSUES WITH THAT! So right now I'm dealing with corporate. I have 250lbs of Elk meat in my garage. I needed that freezer! I will not rest until somebody listens to me. I will NEVER spend my money in that store again. Btw it's the...
Read moreAbout 90% of the time I get the help I need and i have encountered about 60 different employees there that can take you to the item you need or to a computer to tell them where it is or have the courage to ask other employees for help in the generally unusual items I frequently ask for. Only 3 haven't had a clue what I have looked for even some really common items that even after being there for a year or more. 2 cashiers act like they don't want you in there checkout lane if you have kids under 12 but all of the others seam that they want you in there lane kids or no kids and only a couple employees storewide act like they are there for paycheck and not customers. Without customers are who pays their paychecks. There are 3 people that go above and beyond there job especially to help customers Justin(pumbing super or manager), Shephanie (hardware) and Jon L.(use to be in hardware), these three will assist you to find what you need in any department. If you are like me and think outside the box these 3 can help with that and they really know a lot about almost all items in their department as well as other departmemts items. I make a lot of my own tools and they seem to know the tools I need to aid in me making the tools I am making. For the last 35 years i have enjoyed doing blacksmithing, welding, automotive, construction and remodeling, designing and building computers and electronics and building pneumatic air systems, and plumbing, and these 3 people have been the best at getting me what i need fastest. And helping me get tbe right parts and tools the first time every time, those other 60 people also help get what I need the first time. I have been going to the Clarksville, IN store since they opened and have not had to return but 3 items that where defective out of over 300 items and don't get a...
