Our experience with McCollough Homes has and continues to be pretty trying. It has had its up and downs and not every moment has been unpleasant, but as whole, if I had to do it over again, I would definitely go with a different builder. Things got off to a rocky start with our sales rep. He was new to the company and unsure of a lot of things, but was always quick to find out the answer and if he told us incorrectly - he honored his word in our favor and gave it to us anyways. We appreciated Andrew's willingness to say when he was wrong and honor his word! Andrew is the reason for one star and my love for our home is the reason for the other. I love our home, but when I think about why it is because of the design choices (that I made) and the floor plan (that we paid to have changed around). Without those two things I would be giving McCollough Homes 0 stars. This review would be a novel to go over the nightmare building process, but my most recent (and ongoing complaint) is, I made a warranty claim 5 weeks ago, for a recurring issue that I have had, and an appointment was made that week to come check it out. After being canceled on 15 minutes after the appointment was to take place, I have called and text at LEAST 2 times per week since and have never received a call back from our builder, Mike Button. I have called the main number listed on the McCollough website, it rings once, and goes to a voicemail that says it is full (no shock there if other customers are being treated like we've been.) I almost can't wait for the day my warranty is up, so I no longer have to deal with the headache that is trying to deal with anyone from this company. It is really unfortunate, because I do love my home. I would not only NOT refer this company, but I tell anyone who will listen what a joke this process has been. I understand being busy, even behind, at work, but I've had a few minutes here and there in the last month+ to return calls to clients - even the ones that have...
Read moreWe were so excited to build our first home. If you are wanting a responsive builder who cares about the quality and end result of your home... I would look elsewhere. We love our home but we are so disappointed with several shortcuts taken and the mistakes made along the way. Feel free to reach out to me and I can share our experience. I think the biggest thing the company lacks is communication across their team. We chose to use McCollough Homes because they had great options that were mostly standard. I don't know if it was worth the lack of detail at the end of the day. These are just a few things we experienced: We were passed between 4 different people who were the "project managers" for the home (but know one knew what was going on because of the lack of communication), from the backsplash to the finishes around the home - everything had to be redone because it was not correct, the landscaping was a joke and we are now trying to figure how to work it out because the sod was not laid properly on a graded lot, the upstairs flooring was not level, we paid extra to extend the back of our home and the foundation wasn't poured incorrectly, we had to fight to have a meter moved from the porch of our home to the side of the home (which was how it was shown on the plans we signed off on), the list goes on...
They have great spec homes but I would say purchase one that is completed vs. going through the process with their team -- less stressful and you know what you are getting. It's sad because my husband and I have truly never written a bad review. We see life with the glass half full and not half empty. This is just something I wish someone would...
Read moreMy husband and I just recently bought a home built by McCollough Homes. Prior to closing, we questioned the fence in the backyard that was obviously falling over and rotting if this would be fixed before we moved. We were told this would be something the neighbor fixes. After closing, we now are being asked to go 50/50 on an 11 year old fence. We found out that the builder, Gerald, from McCollough was discussing on having this fence replaced and going in 50/50 with the neighbor but never got back with our him. Now we are being told by Gerald that McCollough Homes would have fixed the fence when owning the property but now it is our obligation. We were also told from our initial builder (whom we really liked) that we would be getting new sod as it was laid in the winter and has not taken. Well now we are told that it will be treated and not replaced. An entire backyard without grass....this is just unbelievable.
We even reached out to the President of McCollough Homes, Jake Riffe, whom was short and did not seem to genuinely care of our situations. After reaching out twice, we finally got a response. Since then he has failed to respond. It seems that Gerald has taken after his superiors. This whole situation lacks integrity and I believe it's very unfortunate that a company who prides themselves on building quality relationships with their clients, employees individuals who don't strive to meet those expectations. We are very unhappy with the runaround we have had with or builder and the dishonesty.
We will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and The Home Builders Association of...
