Jersey City Free Public Library: Miller Branch — Attraction in Jersey City

Be sure to get a receipt and check the receipt at every transaction because humans "make mistakes" ..On 8/13/2025 I checked out a couple books put them in my bag and went to work.. Later on when I got home and decided to breeze over my books I noticed 4 more books were added to my account that I DID NOT borrow .I go back explain to them what happened, dead silence at first..guy was clicking and staring at the screen so I asked for the receipt back because I was pressed for time. I go back later on in the week to ask questions, they tell me it's nothing they can do but I was told whoever checked me out on 8/13 didn't close my account out before scanning the next patron for check out,The lady Tawanda/Tawanna . I remember that day because they were also doing some type of inventory (it were a lot of books on the counter and it was like 3 employees doing things in the computer with said books). Anyway I was able to borrow and return books while I waited patiently for those 4 books "to be returned". This Monday when I returned my final book I again ask about those four books that I did not borrow and STILL they are reflecting on my account . I was told that I could not utilize my free library privileges because of something I had nothing to do with . I take responsibility for not checking the receipt before I left but I've been using the library since like 2010 it should be some type of way to help me . She made a mistake but of course they see hundreds of people a week so she might not remember what could of happened but none of those books have any interest to me . And nobody was even on line waiting to be checked out . It's not a big deal to them but it is to me cause I did not borrow those books so why should I have to suffer and pay to read when I'm a loyal library user . I only came back to this one because the one in my neighborhood had a pipe burst.....

Their printer has been out for over two weeks. They have not made any progress to go get it fixed. One of the main functions of the library today is the ability and access to print.
