I used to LOVE Hut 8 & honestly, I'd not been there in quite awhile. We went in (my son & I) & I found a few cute items, however, the shorts I bought were too small & the shoes too big BUT the shoes HAD NO TAG ATTACHED! They did have a tag, just NOT attached. I returned the items within the 7 days (which is ridiculous!) after having to make 2 trips (I live in Blountville) because they were closed on a Saturday & I'd seen nothing about planning to be closed so I wasted the gas to go not once, but twice. I'd seen some cute sandals & wanted them so upon return whether I returned the sneakers or not, but I'd planned to return the sneakers and exchange them for the sandals BUT the tag for the sneakers was NOT attached (it NEVER WAS) and NO TAG was attached to the sandals either BUT was told I could NOT return the sneakers AT ALL due to the fact I'd removed the TAG FROM THE SNEAKERS - tho, remember, it was NEVER attached NOR was the tag attached to the sandals I wanted SO??? I NEVER REMOVED A TAG, PERIOD! Someone make sense of that! If it was never attached, how did I remove it AND I'm offering to get some $39 sandals (more $$$) that also have NO TAG ATTACHED! Alas, I did NOT buy the sandals (did not want to LITERALLY GET STUCK with them in the event they needed to be returned as I'd likely be told the same!!), got stuck with the sneakers and only exchanged the shorts for which I was STILL out more $$$!! None of this made sense but they lost me for life such a nonsensical reason NOT to take them back & NO ONE even listened to me OR themselves BEING ridiculous!! Consequently, I will NOT be back! That was the MOST "bass-ackwards" argument I believe I've EVER heard & I will be 60 TOMORROW so I've seen a lot! Never again, tho...you can keep your lil store, I'll unsubscribe from emails as I do NOT need stupidity in my shopping! I have enough of that in other aspects of my life! Other customers, be careful! This about the dumbest thing I have EVER heard! Really ridiculous argument NOT to accept an exchange that would require me to spend MORE $$$ but, that's ok. I'll find super nice stuff elsewhere. I am NOT happy! FYI - on previous trips, I had ALWAYS made purchases! Never had a bad experience before but this was just sad. It...
Read moreI am not impressed with this store. I have been there a few times and tried consigning a couple as well. They offered me next to nothing for my items. I understand they have to make money off the items, but when I can sell the item myself for more than they offer I'm just going to sell it. The items they have also seem overpriced. There are many discount stores where I can get brand new items for around the same price and sometimes even less. I have also been able to find name brand clothes at goodwill thrift stores for a fraction of the price hut8 would be selling them for. Recently, they did a new sale called dollar days, which was just certain items priced at $1, $3, or $5. This was the first time they offered this sale and had been posting about it on social media a ton. I saw the posts and there were a few items I was interested in. I went to the store 30 minutes before they opened and waited in line. I was about the 40th person in line and there were probably over 100 there. When they opened they only let 35 people in at a time because of fire codes. I totally understand this; not a big deal. So when the first round of shoppers can put and I went in there was not much out. They just had 3 big bins of clothes everyone was digging through. They were separated by size so at least you could easily find your size. They did not put all the items out at once. Whenever the bins got low they just refilled them. This made it impossible to find the "doorbusters" they had been posting about for weeks. Additionally, one of the items I purchased had a stain on it. I expect the items I purchase to be like new so I don't examine them. This is just downright irritating. The only good thing I can say is the staff seems very nice anytime I've...
Read moreAs I prepare to move out of Johnson City, I decided to declutter by donating and selling some of my clothes. After researching local options, I visited Hut No. 8 for the first time. The store is clean, well-organized, and offers a mix of affordable and higher-priced items.
I brought a bag with new, lightly used clothes I hoped to sell. The staff was welcoming, and I appreciated the opportunity to browse the store while they reviewed my items.
I received $11 for 5–6 pieces of mostly new, unused clothing. While I understand the need for the store to make a profit, the compensation felt a bit low considering the condition and quality of my items. However, I would consider returning if I decide to sell more items during my move. I donated the remaining clothes they didn't accept elsewhere, along with other clothes I had in my car.
Overall, Hut No. 8 is a good place to find gently used fashion, and I recommend it to others looking to...
