Mike, the "manager" may have a slightly big head, and thinks his job is a little more important than it actually is. He created a problem, that wasnt a problem, until he felt the need to show that he was " manager", and inject himself into a situation he had no business dealing with. Me and my son, are as regulars as it gets. I'm in this restaurant 1 or 2 times a week, minimum. As we sat in a booth eating our meal, the booth adjacent to us, reached around and started playing with my son, and asking him questions. My son stood up in his seat, and started talking and playing with the group at the adjacent booth. Mike.....the "manager", came straight up to me, without assessing the situation......and said "hi, can you make sure your son turns around, and quits bothering the other table?" "They're trying to eat and enjoy their meal" Seriously. This guy created a problem, when there wasnt one. I'm extremely protective of my son, and he did absolutely nothing wrong. Actually.....the table who's meal was interrupted was my table, since those people instigated the conversation, and started the entire "play" with my son. Which I had NO problem with. Until magic Mike tried to read everyone's mind, and magically believe he thought this other table was being "bothered." If they were being bothered, I'm sure they would have complained. Then, Mike could have showed everyone that he was in charge, and how "important" his job is.
This guy Mike, just wanted me to know he was "in charge", with no reason to come up to my table......at all. We were doing what we always do. Coming to Mellow Mushroom to enjoy dad and son time. Never again. Tell this guy Mike to mind his own business.....and quit creating problems that dont exist. I'm sure hes run off multiple other people, if this is how he behaves while at work. Completely unacceptable. You can thank Mike for running off a...
Read moreI always hate to leave a bad review but in this case it needs to be said.. after my 1st experience with another store I had been to all I did was brag about how good it was, and finally had a chance to visit this location which while it's closer was still a 40 min ride to just get a very big disappointment to my family and I both ..after waiting so long we thought maybe we had to go order ourselves to finally meet our server only to be told he was busy sorry, we were not too worried, we ordered our app cheesy bread and our too pizzas to which the pizza came out by two other employees but no bread...we needed silverware but no one ever came by so I walked up and asked for some so we could continue our meal just to be disappointed at how BAD the 1st pizza was the onions were soo overwhelming I just didn't want to eat it anymore which if we would has got a check back we could have said something. When our server did finally come back as we were telling him about not getting our appetizer and the meal was not good at all but he continued to walk away as he was taking to us I told him at that point keep the bread my appetite was completely gone. I finally got tired of waiting for our check just to receive our cheesey bread that I told him we no longer wanted and after all that and telling him to keep the boxes I do not want to take the pizza home cause it was horrible he gave me a 65.00 dollar check to pay then repeated over again how he was sorry and have a good night we left. No one ever came to talk to us even in the way out not even as much as a good night. So my review is the 2nd time with this company was not good actually so bad all around I doubt we will ever go back I still tipped him cause I know they rely on tips to live but it was not good at any point very disappointing and a little frustrating hope I'm the only one who goes...
Read moreIn most restaurants, there is a "vegetarian option, " which is generous, but only one.... Or it's just salad or vegetables... We need protein too! I get tired of eating the same thing when I go out! I've been a vegetarian 30 years, and I used to only be able to eat off the "sides" menu.
People who eat animal products have so many more options at restaurants--- That's different at Mellow Mushroom for us vegetarians! (they have lots of variety for you meat people too) There are dozens of vegetarian options at Mellow Mushroom! I ate there every day one week and had entirely different all delicious entries.
They offer tofu AND Tempeh for meat alternatives (no one else in Johnson City does Tempeh to my knowledge) and they are prepared in a variety of ways. Teriyaki, jerk, BBQ to name a few!.... And Tofu is difficult to get right--(at other restaurants it usually tastes like A: eating a wet sponge, or B: is so dried out it tastes like a gigantic chewy tasteless potato chip) and they do it well in multiple ways!
They have such a great variety of different toppings for pizza or salad toppings. It's never boring to eat there. Like I said, I feel like I have to order the same foods everywhere I go- but even the "same foods" like salad or vegetables have more variety at Mellow Mushroom.
I've held so many gatherings there, (Pre-Covid) and they accommodated well to small and large groups.
I can't say enough about how great our Mellow Mushroom is for...
