This place is pretty terrible. I'm sure 10 years ago it was pretty nice, but it's very apparent that the owners or parent company have completely abandoned it.
My group rented three rooms. In every one of the rooms, either the main entry door or the bathroom door were so crooked that it keeps you from opening them. In my room the bathroom door would get stuck closed and I had to push with my entire body weight to be able to get it to open. In my friend's room, the entry door that was so bad they could barely get it to close. This seems like a major fire hazard. If you had to exit quickly, you have to spend a minute trying to push the door open with your body. If you were elderly or disabled, it would be nearly impossible to open these doors.
The website advertises that breakfast starts at 6:00 a.m. everyday. While we were there, a sign said it started at 7:30. This of course was inconvenient because I had to leave before breakfast was ready every morning. And when I went to the cafe to try to grab something to go, the staff would mumble angrily under their breath, because I was there before 7:30.
At any given time, it doesn't matter if it's 6:00 a.m. or 10:00 at night. Someone, if not, multiple people from the staff are directly outside of the front door chain smoking. Every time I exit and enter the building I had to walk through a giant cloud of cigarette smoke and get my clothes smelly.
The one time we needed to get something from the front desk there was no one to be found. The front desk girl was outside hanging out with a bunch of young people In front of the building. It wasn't until one of her Friends walked in and realized we were waiting that she came in and again, clearly upset, Asked how she could help us. It was obvious that we made her mad by interrupting the little party she was having with her friends out front.... Smoking of course.
The bathrooms in the lobby are some of the worst I've ever seen. I've been to some backwoods gas stations that had cleaner bathrooms. There was fecal matter all over the toilet seat, no toilet paper, no soap, dirt all over the floor, no paper towels. Just absolutely atrocious.
Probably one of the most disturbing things is that the entire first floor where I stayed just smelled bad. It smelled like rotten eggs and wet towels, Left in a car for 10 years. Obviously I can't answer for the individual rooms, but my room, the lobby, the dining room, the bathrooms and anywhere I walked on the first floor seem to have this odor.
We also noticed that the elevator certificate was expired. So it's scary going up and down an elevator that's not certified to...
Read moreI was moving from Johnson City to Australia and needed accommodation for a few days after selling my house before leaving. I had stayed in other Staybridge Suites while on vacation and found them all to be exceptionally nice. This one was an immense disappointment. The hotel itself was clean and the room was nice, but the hotel staff was not professional at all, and actually a little on the scary side. Upon arriving to check in, the front desk girl was wearing a hoodie and had two bar stools from the dining area pulled up directly in front of the check in counter with 2 children. She shooed them off and checked us in. The first night we were there, our room was almost directly over the front entrance and I was awaked around midnight by loud voices and a car revving it's engine. I looked out the window to see what was happening, thinking I would call down to the front desk and ask them to intervene, but instead it was the desk clerk in the hoodie outside with a group of people she obviously knew, so I realized that wasn't going to happen. A day or so later, I walked outside to get in my rental car and she was parked in the unloading spot for the hotel, sitting in her car with 3 other people and the scent of pot was wafting out of the rolled up windows. When I went to use the laundry area, the door was propped open and a guy was inside doing his laundry, telling me his wife worked there and he came there to do the families laundry since it was free. So much for paying customers having access as he was using every washer and dryer in the room. | Another desk clerk was approached to ask about coffee for the dining area and as I walked up, she looked up and said very curtly, "what do YOU want?" No customer service skills at all in this place. I actually placed a call to Staybridge corporate customer service line, They seemed concerned, but told me the manager would contact me when she returned from her vacation. I received an email from her with an incredibly insincere "thank you for your comments". This entire place seemed very sketchy and I would never recommend it and would never consider staying...
