The Mabuhay Oriental Market stands as a rare gem within the Kalispell community, providing a valuable resource for those seeking authentic Asian ingredients that can be challenging to find elsewhere.
My journey to this market was spurred by the quest for essential items like fish sauce, oyster sauce, and Gochugaru powder, which had proven elusive or unreasonably priced at other local grocers. This hidden gem offered everything I needed, with the exception of Gochugaru pepper powder. Notably, the oyster sauce was not only readily available but also reasonably priced, especially considering they stocked larger bottles compared to the overpriced 4oz options found at other outlets.
The diverse offerings at Mabuhay Oriental Market extend beyond sauces, including rice noodles, bean paste, miso, mirin, ponzu, an array of snack items, and even a small section dedicated to Oriental tea sets. Venturing into the freezers at the back of the store reveals treasures such as BAO, mackerel, lemongrass, peppers, and more.
While the pricing might lean toward the elevated side, it's important to consider the limited competition in the area. Most local grocers fall short when it comes to offering a decent variety of basic ingredients crucial for crafting classic oriental dishes, making Mabuhay a valuable resource for chefs and cooking enthusiasts.
Beyond its diverse selection, the store is commendably well stocked, neatly organized, and meticulously faced. The owners, a testament to their commitment, are actively present on-site, delivering friendly service with a genuine smile that adds a welcoming touch to the overall shopping experience. Mabuhay Oriental Market is not just a store; it's a culinary haven for those in search of authentic Asian flavors in the heart...
Read moreSo happy to have this market available to us! It is the only Asian market in our area I know of, and they have a wide variety of sauces, flavors, snacks/treats, and frozen groceries I need. The owners are super friendly and the store is very comfortable. It is well organized and easy to find items, unless, you get overwhelmed with the variety they offer! I love seeing familiar products and well enjoyed, popular brands. I'm able to stock up on Asian staples including oyster sauce, Sambal Oelek, KBBQ sauce, thai chilis (when the restaurant hasn't beaten me to them!), a wide variety of instant noodles, and soup bases. I deeply enjoy giving this lifesaving store business, and hope it continues to receive good business from a large range of customers. I recommend everyone to stop in and try...
Read moreThis small mom and pop store is run by a very friendly gentleman. He has goods from all over Asia ranging from Thailand, Vietnam to Japan and Korea as well as many other places. My wife who is Korean bought spices, coffee, seasonings, and snacks. She will make a lot of side dishes. My son who is 3 also got some delicious treats as well. This place is a blessing for my wife as she doesn't find a lot of Korean items around town. If you're in the mood for some Asian cuisine I highly recommend it. This store isn't too pricey you can walk out of it feeling like your money was well spent. It's also located well, right off of Hwy 2 west and tucked into a nice corner. It's a perfect location to...
