Barry Road Park — Attraction in Kansas City

Pros: Easy distance from parking. Compact size so you dont have to constantly follow your kid around in fear you'll lose sight of them. The park is a good distance from street so also great that kids can't just run into it.

Amazingly peaceful. The visual stimuli the scenery here provides is stunnigly beautiful for both deep woods hiker's and those who prefer to stick to paved trails. I've even found 2 Native American artifact's here on a small rock bed in a tributary stream near the paved trail. One was an arrowhead, another a scraping stone used to chip away at flint when making artifact's. I'd estimate they're both over a millennium old. OMG my 2.5 year old son loves this place! Two playground areas with swings dividing them. And one has 2 slides (that's his favorite). The ground is soft, bouncy and flexible, but not rubber or wood chips. Parking is limited, but we've never had a problem finding a space. I hate recommending it because we'll lose the fact that's it's not usually crowded, but it really is nice. Oh BTW a pavilion with tables...
