I am a chef writing under a pseudonym I’m pretty well known in the Kansas City area. Selby chef on ig. I have gotten different items each three times I’ve been here and the flavor and freshness of the ingredients is just out of this world. The seasoning as well thought out and perfectly seasoned. The spices make me feel like I am in Delhi. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in this one stuck with me it is a great hole in the wall and I would recommend it to anybody. Before Covid they had a Buffay I’ve never been to the buffet but if it’s anything like what I’ve experienced and carry out I don’t know how the heck they would make money because I would eat it all. The staff is wonderful you could tell his family run and with every order they always give me a free chai and I believe they do that to everybody. The chai is absolutely delicious and you could tell it’s sweetened with honey and not sugar. This place goes above and beyond what most Indian restaurants do. And it is reasonably priced the only thing I have to say is that the inside is a bit outdated but that doesn’t matter so I’m not taking any stars off this review for that. As a chef the first place I look to see if I want to eat somewhere is the kitchen so I asked to use the bathroom and sneak peek in their kitchen it is so clean I could eat off the floor. I would really recommend the Mushroom mattar, garlic naan and my absolute favorite goat makhani masala, Just for first timers in Indian cuisine a lot of gold dishes still have bone in them this one does so watch out when you bite be careful but the bone brings out an amazing flavor that resonates throughout the whole dish. For an interesting taste try they’re salty lassi. All in all phenomenon this is my go to restaurant in the area for when I’m craving Indian which is like...
Read moreMe and my sister decided to try something new so we seen this place and decided to give it a try. However we were super excited to try this restaurant. We walked in we went to the counter and grabbed a menu and took a seat we also stated this was our first time trying it and smiled. The lady was real dry no smile but that’s neither here nor there. We noticed a white couple come in after us and the lady greeted them and brought them menus and water immediately !! Umm ok , we wasn’t offered water. she proceeded to pass our table and doubled back to give us water .We also noticed she took their order before ours. At that point we knew this isn’t the service we deserve nor will tolerate. We left. Because of that is why I gave a 1 star 12/18/24 @ 6:30pm Berry Rd location . I will not recommend to anyone because of the service. Being kind goes a long way. We end up trying Swagat (Fine Indian Cuisine) the service was great and the food was even better.

We weren’t mistaken for carry out. We actually told her it was our first eating here and we were dining in. Again I appreciate you for trying to rectify the situation. If we do decide to give it a try again, maybe we’ll go to the Westport/plaza location. She was intentionally rude and didn’t want to serve us. I did mention the couple we were there before sat directly behind us. Still would not recommend Barry rd. Location. My 1 star is for service not the food everyone because we never made it that...
Read moreScratch one more place off the bucket list! Add one more cuisine to the experience list. Tonight, for the first time I tried Indian cuisine. I’ve driven by this place since it opened countless times, but I never stopped. Tonight, I stopped. I’m talking about Moti Mahal on Barry Rd. by I-29.
I know nothing about Indian cuisine. Tonight, I found out how delicious it is. Looking over the menu I find a section named Ghost. Oh, great, they serve haunted food! But in fact, Ghost, is Lamb. When someone mentions lamb, I get weak at the knees and start to purr! They offer lamb in five different dishes. I chose Lamb Masala, tender, boneless lamb prepared in a tandoor clay oven with rich Indian spices in a thick delicious sauce. This dish can be prepared plain, mild, or spicy. I chose spicy! I also ordered Garlic Naan bread and a cold beer.
Sitting back, I wait patiently for my food to arrive. A few minutes later they bring out a large plate, a bowl of rice, a bowl of Masala Lamb and a basket of Naan. While contemplating how much rice to put on the plate, I break off a piece of the bread and take a bite. It was thin and warm with a good taste of garlic. There were slightly charred areas adding another flavor to the taste. And then there is the Lamb Masala! Big, tender chunks of lamb in a thick, rich, delicious sauce. Throwing some rice on the plate and covering it with the Masala, I dig in!
What a great first experience of Indian cuisine!
Well Done Moti Mahal!
Well...
