The class itself and ladies that taught it was very sweet and I enjoyed the class a lot. However, I accidentally left my purse at the studio and by the time I realized it and went back (about 5 mins) they had already closed up and left for the night and I was leaving for Mississippi that night. So I waited until the next day to call to make sure it was there and that I would get it when I got back from Mississippi. The owner answered and was VERY rude to me over the phone and said this to me... “you have until 6pm to get your purse because there is a private party from 6-9p” and I replied back to that saying... I wouldn’t make it back before that time to get it since I was in Mississippi for a wedding. All she did was RUDELY repeat her lawd and said the same thing so I replied back saying... so you’re saying I can’t walk in real quick and get my personal belongs because there’s a private party? And she said AGAIN repeating herself even more rudely that I could not come after 6pm to her my purse and then shockingly SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I found out afterwards once I went pick up my purse AFTER 6pm from the ladies there that she was on vacation and didn’t want to be bothered with. Well I found that VERY unprofessional of her because being on vacation or not, I paid a nice penny for my girlfriend and I to be there so technically I helped pay for her little vacation that I rudely interrupted. But even though she was rude to me I enjoyed my time there and will definitely be back and if the owner is there she owes me an apology, I’m just saying. Have a good day!
EDITED* and to reply back to th owners comment to my review.... you DID NOT tell me the first time that I could come and may have to wait you specifically told me that I would have to wait until after the 1st to come get it and as far as the “losing connection” with you hanging up on me. You repeated yourself rudely, told me I couldn’t come after 6 and that I would have to wait and CLEARLY said “have a good day” and then hung up. There’s no need to lie about it so you can make yourself look good ma’am. You were rude and unprofessional. Period. BUT again, I enjoyed the class very much and the ladies working that night were very sweet....
Read moreI’ve been to 3 other Painting with a Twist locations, so I have other experiences to compare the Metairie location to. The class was scheduled to start at 7pm. We started 15 – 20 minutes late and was rushed at the end. It’s worth noting that inadequate brushes have been a consistent theme across every Paint with a Twist location I’ve been to. We were given one big brush and expected to navigate the canvas with it (keep in mind, there were small areas and fine lines that we needed to make work with an unrealistic brush). The big brush was later swapped out for a small, terrible quality brush. We couldn’t keep both at the same time (which was irritating). The small brush looked and performed like it came with a cheap paint with numbers kit. The instructor could have done a better job at explaining the painting. This was the first time I’ve painted and didn’t understand what we were supposed to be doing. At one point, I just stopped listening and did my own thing. With that said, our finished painting was noticeably different from the painting that was advertised on the website. We all had this weird blue circle in the top, middle part of our paintings. However, the picture advertised on the website actually looked like a space galaxy. What we painted as a full circle should have been a half circle at the top of the canvas. Also, there were several other things that we weren’t instructed to include on our paintings. I’m a huge fan of Painting with a Twist, but I’ll pass on returning to this location. Thankfully, I ended up with a painting that I halfway liked…but only after putting in a lot of extra work to recover from what we were/weren’t...
Read moreI didn't want to write this review. I wanted the business to make it right, so I reached out to them on two separate occasions with no response.
I booked myself and six young people for an event that was advertised as family friendly. The class started 30 minutes late (tough for an impatient 7 year old) and then the ONLY instruction was, "I would start with the background." I wish this was an exaggeration. Then the instructor sat behind the desk for the duration of the class. When I've gone in the past, the instructor walked us through the painting while they painted on stage and gave tips, often circulating through the class to see if anyone needed help. Not this time. There were no printed instructions either.
There was a monitor that displayed the painting but it went off halfway through the class, leaving us to use our phone screen or our imagination to finish.
Despite starting thirty minutes late, it ended on time which cheated us out of our full booking. And then the "instructor" had the nerve to put a tip bucket atop a stool standing between us the door.
Everyone has a bad day, but this experience was particularly egregious. Coupled with the company's refusal to acknowledge, apologize, or remedy the problem leaves me no other option than to recommend Google users NOT patronize Painting With a...
