If you don't want the long version, the exec. summary is: Pretty good food but really abysmal service. And now the long version: My wife and I walked in on a Wednesday night and there was a good buzz in the place though it was by no means full. However, it took a full 3 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. The woman behind the bar could not have worked any harder at ignoring us. After a waiter finally said hello, it was another couple of minutes before another one actually turned up to look after us. We then went through the standard charade of shock that we didn't have a reservation and sucking of teeth about whether there was a table available, despite at least 20% of the tables being unoccupied. When we got to a table, the bus boy stood so close to my wife's chair that he made it difficult for me to pull the chair out and help her into it. He clearly didn't want to help with that at all. Nether did he offer to take her coat, which may have been a good thing since she put it back on after a few minutes - it was pretty cold in there. We ordered quickly, though the waiter could not be persuaded to take my wife's order first, and they brought us hot, fresh bread which was nice. 25 minutes later they brought us more hot, fresh bread. Another 20 minutes later the steaks finally arrived and they were good, if a (very) little more cooked than we had ordered. The vegetables and potatoes were also good, though my wife's asparagus had got cold on the way to the table. We asked to see the dessert menu and had the surreal experience of being presented with a platter full of plastic models of desserts - very odd! We shared a cheesecake which was not plastic when it arrived (10 minutes) and which we both enjoyed. The waiter who brought the cheesecake asked if we wanted coffee and when I asked if they had espresso she said that no, they only had coffee. I'm still giggling about that. The food was pretty good, but it really didn't make up for the really terrible service and I don't think we'll...
Read moreI was so excited for my family and I to have some free time to try Austins….new to the area. Finally….a day off. I don’t know where the people who left the rave reviews have been eating but the food I had was a one star only because I can’t leave zero stars. Smoked salmon app, Veal Austin and pork chop…..the smoked salmon was the best thing of the night….other than the tea….seriously doubt the salmon was made in-house so no credit should be given there. The contents of the app plate were somewhat confusing but excusable. The veal was a fried veal cutlet…simple….the crab topping was good but the roasted potatoes under were embarrassing…salt was needed across the board. The Maple Pork chop was cooked perfectly….the dish as a whole was a failure….rice and yams…no….neither had any redeeming qualities. I did ask for garlic mashed potatoes to replace my dirty rice….the wonderful server had to go back to get my potatoes due to the fact the kitchen disregarded my request initially…..again, no….the garlic mashed potatoes were…..hmmm….let’s just leave it at that. I only mention the $119 total because it just adds to the disappointment….the price wasn’t the issue….the disappointment in the food with a $119 check was. All of that being said…..service was AMAZING. The young ladies at the door were warm and very courteous with a smile and prompt seating. The dining room staff was equally impressive. I do regret not getting the name of our server…he went above and beyond to make our experience the best he could….my young child especially….cherries and lemons made her night….thank you. I don’t want anyone to think we hated it….we didn’t….the items we had were not good at all….even the bread brought to the table was lackluster. Austins employees were the star of the night for us….not enough to bring us back. I can excuse mediocre food because the wait staff is on point….which it was…but even a stellar staff wasn’t enough to save the food...

I’m so happy I was able to celebrate my 13th wedding anniversary here. From the user friendly RsVP option online, transparency of someone calling to confirm my reservations, Dustin was so nice and attentive with my needs for the night with our confirmation call.
We were greeted right when we walked in, I was very impressed with the vibes the restaurant has. Nice sleek bar, intimate seating and very clean.
Once we were shown to our table, our waiter Jose greeted us with the best smile and the personality to match! I will request him every time we go! He gave his top recommendations and also listen to what we like to help us first timers starting with our appetizer, pork belly bites, he listen to us when we suggested a different taste to the sauce, he told us about the spring roll sauce, we asked if we could have some so we can cut the taste of the bites sauce, we mixed them both together and had a really good taste to it. I ordered the French onion fillet with a side of broccoli au gratin and the flavors were great and I already recommended it to friends and family. My husband (chef) got the stuffed lobster and steak With a side of mashed potatoes, he was very pleased with his meal. Jose also helped us with the drink menu. I had two Manhattans and my husband had an off the menu rum punch. We both enjoyed our cocktails. Dustin is a great bartender. My favorite part of the meal was the beignet fried Oreo with ice cream, not only did it taste great but I also loved the detail of having it say happy anniversary, it really meant a lot to me. The presentation on all our dishes were great.
From Jason, who was very friendly and attentive with cleaning dishes and filling up water glasses, all the employees made our visit there memorable.
Thank you for a great evening and keep on rocking...
