I came in yesterday to consign some clothing that my usual consignment store said to bring back as soon as the fall/winter season was about to begin. I decided i’d consign them to uptown cheapskate instead of waiting because I had researched and found out that uptown cheapskate takes clothing from all seasons, year round. I also checked the preferred brands list and all of my items were from those brands. A tan Zara cardigan. Several pacsun long sleeves, ankle books from American Eagle, and maybe more warm stuff I can’t remember. Anyway, when we went up to the counter to consign, I noticed one employee staring at me like she was disgusted. I immediately started panicking internally like do I smell? Is there something on me? Is my outfit ugly? They said “fill out this form” and so my fiance did. And then nothing. He approached again and spoke to someone else and she was acting strangely as well. She apologized and took our stuff. We were told we’d be informed as soon as they had finished, but that didn’t happen. So before we checked out at the register, we walked up to them and asked a new lady the status and then she and another girl started nervously rambling and they grabbed a receipt or note or something. Then her eyes widened and she was like “is the last name Tate?” to which I said yes. Mind you I’m agoraphobic so this is my worst nightmare- feeling like people are judging me and hiding something. REMEMBER: I had come minutes ago from another consignment shop with much higher standards, and they wanted the items! They simply are much smaller and do seasons. The workers were both staring at me and their faces were red. They said “um, I’m sorry but we can’t take your items.” I was so surprised and started immediately thinking wow, how embarrassing, they must smell or something. They must have damage. But NONE of them smell and NONE of them are damaged. I really enjoyed shopping with you guys, but I feel like I was weirdly treated by the staff that night. Read moreWhen walking through the door, there was a nice rack of shoes and almost twisted my ankle on all the other over priced shoes in a pile . Some of the shows were lined up then it looked as if the other shoes were just strung around on top of one another in a pile . Clothes were neatly hung with a slight body order smell to them again over priced. Looking at the sale rack , items stamped were 80% off but there were so many different colored stamps which one indicated it was 80% off and what did the other stamp colors represent?? Oh did I mention how I or anyone else were not greeted or recognized as we come through the door. I could clearly see there were 3 females and 1 male all behind the checkout counter drinking from cups and eating from the bags of smelly onion food the door dash guy just delivered, and the way they were talking about people that was at the party they all attended together was just a display of an episode of the mean girls sitcom. I'm sorry they were trash talking about someone who was just in store buying this over priced clothing . Said something about her purse was dingy and her ponytail was not in style. Read moreNot unlike Remilouis’ rating and review a week ago we experienced similar today. We arrived to find associates with IT issues. Asking I f we should come back another time associate stated they could still accommodate buy processes and stated our wait should be no more than 15-20 mins. Our check in time was 1:04 pm. We shopped around and waited; noting that the front desk received many sellers following our interaction. In trying to be both patient and understanding we waited until @ 2:20 pm to approach the staff to query status. Keep in mind desk staff saw us throughout the entire time, never asking after us, or if we'd been helped. Husband approached desk at 2:20 and we were told our "buy" process had been "completed long ago, didn't you receive a text?" We did not receive a text or any notification until email received after we arrived home. Associates were somewhat friendly but not apologetic nor concerned over the extensive wait. It would have also been nice had we been recognized for our patience and understanding followed by an apology. Definitely a different feel today vs last week when we encountered more seasoned associates and felt welcomed and valued as a customer. I'd maybe give another site a chance again but will likely not return...
