Chasin' Tail Charters — Attraction in Ketchikan

I have to admit that I almost didn’t book with Nick at Chasin’ Tails but after reaching out to quite a few guides and him getting recommendations from a few that were booked, I gave him a shot and I am so happy I did. I chartered his boat on 7/21/23 for 6 hours with a total of 5 people and we had the best time of our lives on the water. Not only did we catch our limit of 30 pinks and 30 silvers but we also managed to catch lots of kings that were a little small for the size limits. In 4 hours of actual fishing (plus 1-hour travel to and from fishing grounds) we hooked up over 100 times and after all was said and done we were fortunate enough to have a humpback whale come within 30 feet of the boat to congratulate us on our catch! Total Alaskan package! And although Nick won’t guarantee the same results, I trust his judgement 100%. My family has 140+lbs of fish coming home with us to prove that Nick knows what...

Highly recommend Nick. Communicates great ahead of time and answers all your questions. His boat still has the “new boat” smell and is well equipped and very nice and clean and organized.

As you can read in other reviews, he pulls on his extensive 25 year career to give you the best experience possible and he’s very focused on getting you the most fish he can given the day’s conditions.

We were happy with our 3 king salmon given the season and conditions. Nick is highly tuned into moment by moment conditions in order to maximize our opportunities so this was a great day for us!

I also really enjoyed the bald eagles in the area and Nicks relationship with them.

He was very professional and definitely customer service oriented including offering coffee and snacks and very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and history.

What an awesome fishing charter we had with Nick recently. Nick was very pleasant when we booked the trip with him. He explained the different options of fishing. He made sure that we booked the charter we wanted. Any questions we had prior to the charter he responded to promptly. The day of the trip was beyond amazing. Our party of four were very impressed. Nick took us to an area for salmon fishing, set us all up to fish, explained what we needed to do and we caught salmon, we caught our limit in no time. Upon arriving back at the dock, Nick cut up a salmon for us to enjoy for dinner that night.
