Myself and friends were very disappointed with our fishing trip. There were 6 of us on a 24' boat. The boat was very clean and in great shape. The problem we had was that the description says a 4 hour fishing trip. I would expect 4 hours of fishing. When we got on the boat the captain says it is a 45 minute ride to where we will be fishing. We dropped 2 lines in the water and started trolling. The trip material said no more than 4 rods in the water which is what we saw on most boats in the area and with 6 people in our boat, this is what I expected. The bit was very slow but we continued to troll over the same locations while not trying to do anything different to create a better bite from the fish. We did this for 2-1/2 hours and then the captain said we needed to head back in. So we only got to fish for 2-1/2 hours of what I thought would be a 4 hour fishing trip. 1-1/2 hours of or 4 hour fishing trip was riding in a boat. I would not recommend this trip for the amount of money we paid.
Thank you for the reply Mike but some of your details are incorrect. We sailed on the Princess cruise line and we were not offered the a 2nd boat to split our group. I was unaware that...
Read moreI’m not sure where my original review went but we definitely did not have a 5 star review. Guide was late. Took us to one spot only for hours for halibut despite being told that if they weren’t biting we would try different areas. We booked the boat by ourselves so we could be flexible. We did catch a spiney rock fish so we didn’t blank, but not what the trip was described as. Tried salmon for a short bit with no success ( I understand that’s how fishing goes) and he returned us back to the dock earlier than I would have liked. I think if you get Captain Mike you will be fine. Our guide was friendly but I didn’t feel like he wanted to work at it too hard. Captain Mike did try to call me after I posted my previous review and I missed his call and I returned his call but never heard from again. I’m hoping to return soon and try a different guide for halibut. Maybe try Homer next time. I did go 2 years ago so hopefully he has worked out some kinks and is doing better. Edit: Captain Mike did call me and we talked about the issues had. Maybe we just had an off day. I truly appreciate his call back it...
Read moreAn excellent day hunting for Kings! This was my first time fishing Alaskan waters though I'm a long-time fisherman. I had an excellent experience! The boat, electronics and tackle are all top-notch in quality so clearly this outfit knows what they are doing.
As this was my first time, I was pleasantly surprised with the picturesque scenery all around me. The view was simply amazing; you can easily lose track of time just staring at the beautiful display of nature all around you.
Captain Chris wasted no time to get us on fish! We hit several his favorite spots and I was able to land a few silvers and a pink. We tangled with several Kings of appreciable size but I wasn't able to get them into the boat. Then just shortly before calling it for the day, I hooked into a very large King and this time with Chris' expert help and guidance I was able to get him into the boat. Score!
All in all I had a fantastic time and will definitely be a repeat customer, Thanks to Captain Mike for running a great outfit and especially Captain Chris for showing me...
