A Sweaty Experience: The Sound of Freedom in a hotbox theater
I watched "The Sound of Freedom" at our only local movie theater, and unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. I had heard rumors that movie theaters across the country were turning off the AC during the viewing of the movie. I had thought to myself, not in Kingman, the deep red city of southwest AZ.... It was all i could do to finish watching the end of the movie. The sweltering heat and stuffiness of the theater made for an uncomfortable and distracting viewing experience, but I didn't let the lack of AC stop me from watching this great movie.
When I stepped into the theater, I saw the mask sign which read mask not required but recommended. I didn't think to much of the sign at the time. The lobby was cool and I hoped the theater itself would provide a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Sadly, that wasn't the case. As the movie began, the temperature inside rose steadily, turning the entire space into an uncomfortable sweatbox. It was as if we were in a sauna rather than a place meant for entertainment.
As the movie came to an end I got up and waked into the adjacent theater and magically, the air was very cool and refreshing.
The absence of functioning air conditioning not only affected the viewing experience but also reflected poorly on the overall theater environment. It left me wondering about the level of care and maintenance given to the facility. If something as basic as temperature control could be overlooked, what other important aspects might be neglected as well? Was it coincidence that the AC wasn't working like many people have been reporting about theaters across the US or was this deliberate?
In fairness to the movie itself, "The Sound of Freedom" was an incredible movie! Get the word out so more people can see what is happening to children across the world. The largest consumer of child sex trafficking is the United States. As Christians we need to stand up and help because "God's children are not for sale!"
I sincerely hope that the theater management takes immediate action to rectify this issue. As moviegoers, we deserve an environment where we can fully immerse ourselves in the film without distractions, no matter what the content of the movie is. Until then, I cannot recommend this particular theater to anyone seeking a truly enjoyable...
Read moreWalking through the doors tonight, and noticed popcorn and trash everywhere on the floors.. went to order 3 fountain sodas and a large popcorn along with a pretzel and spent 49 dollars..talk about over priced .. walked through the doors to watch Moana 2 and noticed how out of date everything was .. again noticed trash everywhere including cups in the holders .. went to take a seat with my daughter and sister and we noticed the seats were old and bent up.. the guy sitting in front of me went to sit back and only one side of the chair went back, so he was basically leaning towards one side the whole movie. Another problem i kept dealing with was it being freezing ..i dont ever complain about cold air, but it was colder then outside ... and the temp outside was 57º😐 😑.. it's like they had the air conditioning set at 50, idk 🤷🏻♀️ The employees there seem to be in a bad mood .. not one smile or not one greeting from any of them...I will never be returning back to that place....
Read morewhen the family and I go out to see a movie we come here, yes you can go to other places get alcohol and other foods this quiet little place does not offer. But it not costing me a 1/4th tank of gas to get there and back. This place has been neglected by all theaters but I know they do there absolute best in bringing movies to our hometown. If people did not throw themselves into the chair trying to break them I believe they can control cost. I have been going to that location for 14 years with the exception of in between theatres. The staff does wonderful work. It's the people who disrespect the workers and management. They really try very hard to get you into your movie as fast as they can. So next time you go there thank them for being able to serve you versus trying to put them down or complain because you might have had a bad day. Thank you Movie Theatre for allowing me to enjoy the movie and a clean...
