I had never been to Netherland Inn even though I have drove passed many times and lived here for many years. I was looking at events on Facebook and found that Afternoon Tea. I love doing afternoon tea, but my boyfriend loves it even more. I read the post many times to look for age or gender restrictions. There were none. I shared the post with him, and he bought tickets almost immediately for both of us. We arrived early and checked it. It was the most lovely experience. We sat in the back corner with a mother/daughter couple. The place was beautifully decorated. The food was wonderful. The tea was wonderful, but I will bring extra tea bags for myself that I'm not allergic to in the future. Everyone was helpful with me on a cane. Everything was wonderful until we were leaving. My boyfriend was the only male present, but he didn't mind. One of the hostesses turned to him and asked how did he enjoy a women's afternoon tea. That statement spoiled the wonderful day. Why did it matter to her since he paid for the 2 tickets? Why did she need to say anything at all? If it was a women's only afternoon tea, why didn't it say anything in the event description? This was a fundraiser. I don't know if we will go back.

This is a favorite place of our family. There are neat things to look at plus the river view is always amazing! There is a walking trail and a playground. Great local treasure

Old cabins and one of them was the one Daniel Boone and Rebecca actually lived in .It was moved there from the actual place that they lived at.

A great experience and opportunity to learn about Kingsport! I would advise that you might call ahead to check hours and to see what is open that particular day. When we visited they locked everything up at 4:30 although the hours posted are Saturday and Sunday 2-5. Also, due to coverage issues, only the main house was open - the transportation museum, bank barn, Crockett Cabin, and school house were not ever unlocked - we look forward to going back to visit those areas when they are available. Everything is ran by volunteers and, surprisingly, they have stopped charging for...

Almost got married here. It’s beautiful year round, especially at Christmas with the tours and decorations. In 2007 or 2008 at Christmas, my mom took a photo of my dad and I sitting on some steps outside of one of the buildings. We got the film printed and there was a ghostly figure sitting next to me on the steps. I have believed in the...
