Had some time to kill before our flight back to the Midwest. Saw there were walkable trails at Celebration Lakeside Park, so stopped by on our way from the hotel to the airport. The park was a delight. Lots and lots of beautiful flowers. The most bountiful supply of Indian Shot Canna lillies which were primarily orange, but had some yellow and a few red highlights on a couple. We saw many turtles, one alligator (or was it a crocodile, I can't tell the difference. It was only 3 feet long). Then saw some Slaty Egrets, and Snowy Egrets that were fishing in a stream. Then saw an Anhinga, snakebird or water turkey, swimming underwater in the stream. It finally came up and them stunned itself by the lake for a bit, spreading out it's wings to dry off it's feathers. There were several different lakes to walk around on paved paths, several elevated boardwalks in what was likely marshy areas at times. We found the paths to be a mix of sun and shade. A few bikers were out. Several people walking dogs. Overall, the area was extremely quiet and refreshing. We could easily hear bird sounds throughout the walks and found it...
Read moreA great location to walk around the lake, visit small boutique shops, an old fashioned 50's themed movie theater and restaurants. You can spend an hour or two here enjoying the sights. They have a small water splash area for the kids, and a playground. They have regular car shows and other activities, especially on the weekends. It's mostly street parking, which gets tough during an event. They currently (as of nov) have a huge Christmas tree at the lake, which is great for photos, and small ice skating rink (plastic flooring), and spray safe soap foam on the ground to simulate snow for the kids to play in. They also have a Christmas tree lot to buy a tree for the holidays. Don't miss the pet store with lots of homemade goodies, and next store an ice cream shop for the two-legged variety. Close to other popular attractions on 192, and an easy drive to...
Read moreSuch a beautiful park! So, only RESIDENTS can park inside the parking lot of this particular park. However, visitors can park outside of it. If you are a visitor, you can park near the fountains and shops and walk into the park. The recreation center that has the pool and playground is also for RESIDENTS ONLY.
I give this park 5 stars because it is absolutely GORGEOUS! So pretty with the pond and landscaping. There is a walking trail that goes around the pond, which takes you to another walking trail around another pond. The entire area was VERY clean. No trash anywhere. It also felt very safe. There were lots of families riding bikes and taking walks. We walked near the fountains, where kids were playing, and also had some ice cream at Kilwins. Celebration is defiantly worth the drive and the look. Very...
