Having a sushi restaurant 2 minutes from your home is the height of happiness when you're a sushi lover like me, so it's no surprise that I've been dining here for well over 10 years (even when it was under a different name), but in all that time, I can't recall if I've ever written a review--until today. And ohhhh boy, did they EARN IT!! Not only was our food delicious and the service was friendly and efficient, but we were absolutely OVER THE MOON when headserver Cici and owner Tim went above and beyond to make a special request happen for us with absolutely last minute notice!! My now-husband and I ate here on our very first date back in February 2019, and many times thereafter. While we've always loved the menu and are excited to try new rolls when they change things up, we were so bummed when our favorite roll was phased out. Well, to try to make a long story short, we decided to celebrate the anniversary of that first date by dining at Ari tonight and on the recommendation of a neighbor we reached out to Cici via FB to see if they could make this off-menu item for us, same day! 😬 Well, they made it happen, it was just as delicious as we remembered, and the experience granted us a wonderfully nostalgic moment to serve as a cherry-on-top to our silly little "anniversary" date night! Thank you Cici, Tim, our sweet server tonight Alondra, and the entire Ari staff! You made our day!! We'll be back again soon!

My husband and I stopped in during February for lunch just before 3 (the end of their lunch menu) and ordered lobster rangoons, spicy octopus salad, and the sashimi dinner set which has 18 pcs of sashimi (3 each of chef choice). Our plate included 4 pcs each of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, white tuna, 2pcs of mackerel, octopus, crab sticks, and sea urchin. So much more than we were told. All of the fish was cut thick and large, tasted fresh, and was perfect. The white tuna was my favorite. It was so soft and buttery. My only complaint was the regular tuna that had large fibers that you can't chew. (You can see from the photos) He had an Asahi beer, and I had the Chika Sake Cup, which is its own little cup, 200ml of junmai at 13.5% alcohol, with a lid you remove. (The cup is so cute I kept it). It had a light floral flavor that was perfect! The interior is very clean, like immaculate, and there was only one other table of two at the time. The music was 60s classics and played at a nice low volume, making for a serene atmosphere. We also had a nice view of the pond across the way and people walking by. Overall, parking was easy, we were seated immediately, and service was just as quick. The food is a good value for the money. The atmosphere was pleasant and was cool inside but not too cold.

We stopped for lunch and we were surprised at the extensive menu offerings. Unfortunately they provided wooden disposable chopsticks and I really dislike these and do not expect them in a Japanese restaurant. They offer sushi, teriyaki, Nigiri, Sashimi, “Tastings”, Yakisoba and Udon, and Bento boxes for children. The dessert options are interesting including Tempura ice cream and Tempura cheesecake. We ordered garden salad and several rolls: avocado, cucumber, Ultimate spicy tuna, and chicken tempura roll. The cucumber roll was bland, did not have sesame seeds and was coming apart, the avocado roll and spicy tuna roll were very good, and the chicken tempura roll was ok. The salad was also just ok. The ginger dressing lacked the punch of ginger and the wasabi lacked intensity. The sticky rice was also average. Service was average. There was a very pungent sewer-like smell as soon as we walked into the restaurant but eventually we acclimated.

We were seated promptly enough in an almost empty restaurant, save for a large group on one table who left about 5 minutes later and 2 couples. The waiter did not arrive for at least 5 minutes and once drinks orders were placed, didn't return with them for another 10 minutes - quite what he and the other servers were doing was anyone's guess.

Food was ordered, between 5 of us we ordered 3 starters and a main each. The starters came out efficiently enough and the food was quite tasty but nothing special. Then 3 of the main dishes came out and I, along with my sister waited for ours, I ordered the Samurai rolls and she ordered the Sweet Heart rolls; we thought as we'd both gone for that type of dish, it may have taken longer, however, after 15 minutes (we had been looking for a server during this time) we caught the eye of our waiter and queried where our dinner was, he checked with the chef and came back to inform us that the chef had made our food and it had been brought out - after explaining that it clearly hadn't, he checked again and without apologising, he let us know that our dinner in fact had been given to another table who had accepted it. Within 2 minutes we had got our food, quite how we got it that fast I don't want to know.

After a little heated discussion, the server then started acting a lot nicer to us, I expect his manager had had a word with him. He then stated as a gesture of good will, they would take 10% off the bill - in fact, it was 10% off the late dishes, a grand total of $6!

With a little discussion we managed to get more off the total bill, although by this point, the atmosphere of our meal had been ruined and any apology was still not forthcoming.

All in all, the food was nice but not great, the service was terrible. As somebody already mentioned in a previous review, any table of 5 or more already has 18% gratuity added and so I think that take that to mean they don't have to be as friendly or...

It was a terrible experience. The food wasn't even good and the service was awful. Went there last week on a hunch and quickly regretted it. The server did not even visit our table until after we were seated for a while and she didn't even smile the whole time we were there. Not sure if it was her first day or what but she didn't seem to want us to enjoy our dining experience. I ordered ice water with lemon and I had to ask for it 3 times before I got the first one. She didn't ask us if we wanted to order until after 15 minutes has passed. But get this, she gave us the bill 5 minutes after we got our order. She didn't even ask us if want another drink or try a dessert. The best part is this: they had the nerve to add 18% gratuity on the total bill after taxes is calculated. They even want us to pay tip on the taxes. I ask her if she could take the tip out and we'll just leave it on the table. The answer was " NO , I can't, we include it in all the bill." So, the main reason we didn't get a good service is that she was going to get the 18% tip no matter what type of service was delivered. Believe me, I had paid 40% tip on a bill before but it was an exceptional, friendly, above and beyond type of service. I will gladly pay for service when a service is good but this was more like a disservice. This is obviously a place I would not visit ever again. I wish somebody had warned me about...
