I recently visited The Dressing Room Celebration for dress try-ons and alterations. While my initial experience was positive—Anna was incredibly nice and helpful during the dress selection process and listened to my concerns for what I’m about to elaborate—things took a turn once I started my alterations.
The biggest issues were the consistent lateness of the third-party seamstress and unprofessional reception personnel, specifically Penny. For the first two appointments, the seamstress was always about 15 minutes late. However, my second appointment was a bit more complicated. I had written down 6:30 PM for my appointment, but I received a confirmation text the day before stating it was scheduled for 6:00 PM. This was an issue, considering I live over an hour away and had adjusted my work schedule months in advance to accommodate this timing. Currently, alterations are only offered on Tuesdays at this shop, so I had to be very persistent with reception (which also happened to be Penny) to get it switched back to 6:30.
The final appointment was by far the most frustrating. Despite being told the seamstress would be 20 minutes late, my appointment ended up being 45 minutes delayed. The reason for the additional delay was a last-minute appointment for a dress “fix” from earlier that day because the bride and her mother lived over two hours away.
While I empathize the need for accommodations for a wedding dress, any last-minute appointments should be scheduled at the end of the day to avoid inconveniencing other customers. My appointment was pushed aside without notice, and this lack of consideration was extremely frustrating.
To make matters worse, Penny was apathetic to my concerns. She offered was a weak excuse for why I had to be inconvenienced and a dismissive “I’m sorry to hear that”. As we left, she had her back turned to us and didn’t even try to make us feel better, further adding to the disappointment. This lack of attention and care only compounded the negative experience. It was an incredibly disappointing display of customer service, especially after what should have been a special experience.
Unfortunately, because of these issues, I cannot rate this business highly. I really wish I could, because the dress and alterations turned out beautifully. I understand that the seamstress is an independent contractor and not directly affiliated with TDR, but her work still reflects on the business. Regardless, it is unacceptable to experience ongoing scheduling issues and rude customer service.
The only reason I put two stars instead of one is because Anna was helpful and understanding, plus the seamstress apologized repeatedly for her mishap and did do a great job. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell far short of my...
Read moreI always prefer giving 5-star reviews to small businesses, but sadly, my experience with The Dressing Room has been deeply disappointing. Buying the most important piece of clothing for my life—my wedding dress—has turned into a nightmare because of their repeated missteps.
It started with my appointment. I traveled all the way from North Carolina, only to find out that my appointment was double-booked. The staff asked us to come back the next day because we were more compliant than the other group. While inconvenient, I was willing to overlook this issue since things happen.
The real problems started when my dress arrived. After waiting about four months, the dress finally came in, and they were supposed to ship it to me. I had clearly communicated that I’d be out of town for the holidays, so it was critical that they shipped it immediately. Despite paying the shipping fee promptly, they forgot to send it for over a week. When I followed up, they claimed UPS forgot to pick it up, but the shipping label wasn’t even created until after I contacted them.
To make matters worse, they charged me two separate shipping fees—one to bring the dress to their boutique (a fee I’ve never encountered at any other boutique) and another to ship it to me. So not only did I pay double shipping charges, but the dress also arrived late, leaving it vulnerable to the elements while I was away.
And now, the worst part: the sizing issue. During my fitting, I tried on a size 8, and they advised ordering a size 10 because the sample didn’t zip completely. When the dress finally arrived, it didn’t zip either—despite me not gaining any weight. I reached out to clarify the sample size and was told it was a size 10, which means they should have ordered a size 12. After further back-and-forth, they claimed their staff misspoke and confirmed the sample was actually a size 8. To add insult to injury, a friend of mine later contacted them weeks later to ask about the sample size, and they once again said it was an 8.
This entire process has been exhausting, and the company still insists there’s nothing they can do. Now I’m left with a dress that doesn’t fit and only four months until my wedding. I cannot recommend The Dressing Room after...
Read moreI’m going to save everyone a bunch of reading and just quickly say that I 1000% recommend this place. The experience I had was unlike any other I’ve had before. I live in Florida, but most of my family lives in Ohio. My mother-in-law helped me find this place, and boy am I so grateful.
First off, Grace was the wedding stylist who helped me out. I have a million of things I could say about her. She was so beyond patient and overwhelmingly kind. I showed her three pictures of dress styles I liked. Believe it or not, they had the EXACT same style and designer that I was looking for.
I had a family member who couldn’t be there and had to FaceTime them. Grace made sure to they felt included. She gave such great advice and kept me in my budget easily. She also has the same name as my sister who couldn’t be there with me that day. It was bittersweet.
I’m not an emotional person at all, but I actually cried when she put the veil on me with my dress and had me hold flowers. I never felt so pretty in my life. Everyone in my party cried. It was such an emotional and beautiful moment, and I’m so glad Grace made that moment come true for me.
Second, I love how intimate this place is. It’s just you and family in there. Grace locked the door behind us and was present with us the whole time. I felt so comfortable because I didn’t feel like I was being watched by outsiders or strangers.
The RANGE of dresses is incredible!! Personally, I love straps, lace, flowy, and an A-line shaped gown. The girl who had an appointment after me tried on ball gown dresses. I love that they have something for everyone with every price range.
Grace was upfront with me about things to consider for my wedding. She was a huge help when it came to picking out my dress. We discussed comfort, what shoes, hairstyles, altering, and more. She was also upfront about the price of every dress as well. Personally, my dress was $1500. I thought it was such a deal considering how much DETAIL was in my dress.
I had 4 other wedding dress places to try on but I cancelled all of them because of this place. No place compares to “The Dressing Room Celebration”. I will forever hold this place near and dear to...
