Overall this isn't a bad place to bring your children to experience something fun. There is a play area and an arcade area and of course skating. My daughter brought her own skates, thankfully because I wasn't enthusiastic about the my rental skates. They felt really loose and unstable. It made me nervous skating in them. I would suggest bringing your own. The young man working behind the counter was very nice and helpful and picking out a pair of skates for me though and I appreciated that. There is an area of the skating rink that is barriered off by a plastic fence for little ones. It can be a little scary because there's nothing to hold onto when you're actually stepping down onto the floor and some kids were skating into the plastic fence moving it while smaller children are trying to hold on to it so it's not a great system but the skate floor itself doesn't have much of a wall area so I guess they're making do with what they have. I read some reviews before we went and I saw that people were complaining about the size of the play area for the price. It is a smaller play area. I don't know what the price is but it's not as large as I think they try to make it seem especially when the owner is responding to someone's complaint. I swear people in this town know when you're not Cajun, lol... I had my socks on walking against the wall of the floor at the one place where there is a tiny strip of wall helping my daughter get across and I got fussed at by somebody. I saw numerous other people in tennis shoes walking on the floor with their kids who looked Cajun and a not a word was said. Maybe I just got caught. I honestly think it's ridiculous. It's a wooden floor. There isn't a lot of space for children to skate who are learning. It's a matinee skate on a Saturday and then you tell people they can go out to the middle of the floor with their tennis shoes on and dance so doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I don't make the rules. And I'm sure given the other response by the owners to other people on here I'll get an earful also. Having said all of this I would definitely take my kid again during a matinee skate if you have small children it's probably not good to take them on a theme tonight with older children or adults. Last but not least this place is cash only so make sure you have the green on you...
Read moreI WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.The owner and manager here is very rude and they do not have their stuff together. My mother in law booked my daughter a party here 12/5/21. She booked the package for 12 kids.... I have a really big family (5 brothers, two sisters and almost all have 4 kids, you get the picture) and friends. As they come in, they give every kid a bracelet EVEN BEYOND THE 12 that we were paying for and agreed to pay for. Everyone of my family and friends asked them how much they needed to pay and they told them nothing, the party would pay for it. We were surprised when we got the bill and they were charging us for every single kid (EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE ASKED HOW MUCH IT WAS FOR THEIR OLDER KIDS). We knew more kids were going to come because all of her cousins her age and friends have older siblings, but their parents came expecting to pay for them. When the 12 bracelets ran out, our family and friends already knew who had to pay but because they told them different, they automatically assumed it was taken care of.
We wanted an explanation as to why every kid beyond 12 was given a bracelet, but the manager got irate. She calls all the kids back to the party table (because all the kids went back to skating at this point) to get a count of everyone with a bracelet and then tells everyone they had to pay or leave (VERY RUDELY). It was super embarrassing as all I wanted my child to do was enjoy her party. The issue was not any of my guests who so graciously came to celebrate my daughterâs birthday. It was not about the money for us (as we did pay), we even bought extra pizza for our guests.... but how we were treated. I didnât even get to skate with my daughter and enjoy her first birthday party !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and the manager even tried lying and said no one asked about paying but all my guest asked !!
Even when we got the owner on the phone, he was very very rude. I have a big family and we were enjoying ourselves so much and thought it was a cool place until this happened. Myself, and my family and friends have agreed we will never go to this place again !!!!! & I will tell everyone I know to STAY AWAY FROM...
Read moreMost importantly: CASH ONLY. I re-read their website after we got there just to see where I missed that, and they donât mention it anywhere that I could find. I understand that card processing fees are expensive, but in this day and age it feels a bit predatory or exclusive to reserve that information until weâre standing next to their ATM.
We still had a really good time, the kids had a blast. Itâs fun how it still feels like the Skate Zone of years ago. It was REAL WARM inside so dress light (this coming from a person who is always cold), we plan to come back but I donât know how tenable that will be once the real summer heat hits, it was partly cloudy and only low to mid 80s while we were there.
Also they didnât spray the rental skates after we returned them, like you would expect at the bowling alley or I remember from when I was younger. They just made a comment on how sweaty the kids pairs were and then stuck them back on the shelf, which made me cringe a little.
It feels expensive but thatâs probably what our parents thought back in the day too. I expect itâs a very expensive business to maintain these days and I really appreciate that itâs still an option in town. You can participate or just sit and watch your kids really wear themselves out in a contained, semi-air conditioned setting, which is a great combo. We will be back, with CASH, now that we are in the know, to have more fun and help keep this...
