i came here on a sunday after having realized saigon noodles was closed. this place has always been a plan B. i came in and ordered the pork chop rice dish as i always do when i stop by and it was raw. i could have been difficult about it but didn’t want to bring attention to it. i asked the server to remake it, but with beef. she quickly took my plate back without apologizing and said she will have it remade. she brought out the new dish and stated, “the owner cooked this.” okay? is that supposed to make me feel better? i don’t even know the owner, he or she didn’t bother to come out to hold themselves accountable for that mistake. they didn’t even give me nuoc mam, and when i asked, they gave me purr fish sauce. how do you work in a vietnamese restaurant and not understand the type of sauce that goes w the rice plate (com tam?) i didn’t get a comp, no discount or anything complimentary to make up for the experience. especially since i had to wait extra long while my friend at the table already finished his plate. it’s very disappointing. i’ve been coming here for years, but i won’t be back. do better.
replying to owner’s comment: i’ve read your other responses to other poor reviews. it seems like whoever is responding to these reviews are constantly laying blame to your servers. yes, the server didn’t apologize, but was the entire thing her fault? no. she was actually very sweet and i still tipped her despite the experience. could she have done better? sure, but let’s not point fingers and blame it on your hard working servers. whoever cooked the pork chop and served it to me raw was to blame. and whoever wrote this response to me, is now, also to blame. i didn’t ask for the short rib. i asked for beef. so the fact that you think you can substitute that without even coming to me and assuming it would fix everything, you’re greatly mistaken. if a customer says they want a specific protein, serve that specific protein. do NOT try to give them something deemed more expensive and think it’s fine. you guys are poor. shame on you, owner, for not taking accountability, not reprimanding the right person to begin with (the chef that served me the raw pork), and you. no accountability from you whatsoever. DO...
Read moreI don't typically write bad reviews, and I'm not a picky eater.
The host/server was very nice when I first came in, sat me quickly, and checked in to cover the menu with me. The restaurant was mostly empty with one other table of people who left within 5 minutes of me getting there.
I ordered shrimp spring rolls, lamb pho with no cilantro, a water, and a taro milk tea. As soon as she placed my order, the server asked her manager if she could leave to hang out with her boyfriend, and she did. Both the pho and the shrimp spring rolls had cilantro, lots of it. The pho broth was ridiculously sweet, and the noodles were very very overcooked. The lamb itself was good. I could not finish the bowl, it was not good.
The shrimp rolls were gross and dry; the shrimp tasted old, and I had to pull it out to eat the rest of the roll.
The taro milk tea was not mixed at all, and was half filled with clumps of taro at the bottom that was dry, and tasted disgusting. I've seen in other reviews that this is because it's "fresh taro," and it's supposed to be like that, but it's not. It was undrinkably gross. The bartender or cook who eventually brought the food out never came back to the table at all. I waited for him to come back so I could tell him about the cilantro in everything. I finished the glass of water in 5 minutes, which I admit was a little fast, but I kind of wanted something to drink with my meal. I sat and waited for over 30 minutes for him to come back, and when he did, he just dropped the check off on the table and walked away. I left cash and walked out.
It takes a lot for me to have to write a bad review, I loved the place that was here before this. It's very clear that this place doesn't care about the quality of food, or the customer experience at all. I will not be returning. Any recent 5 star review is probably because of their free dessert for...
Read moreI have eaten here twice before and I tremendously enjoyed everything about this restaurant, the people, and especially the food. Today I ordered to-go, which I had never done before. I arrived at 9:30, 30 minutes before opening time. I looked at the online menu and decided I wanted #26 which included a beef broth with flank, brisket, and lean meat..or so I thought. I went in when they opened, never glanced at a menu and just ordered #26. I didn't wait more than 15 minutes, the restaurant was very clean, and the staff was very polite. I left with out checking my bag and drove 30 minutes home. When I opened the bag I had infact the wrong soup, the wrong type of meat which was mostly bones, barley any rice noodles, a and poor amount of sauce. I was beyond aggervated because not only did the online price list less than what actually paid, but I even tipped the man who took my order! $11 for a completely wrong soup. I don't think I'll be visiting them again. There are plenty of other well established restaurants much like Pho Saigon that I will happily give my...
