Have been going to Buffet City for years - it is a great place for an inexpensive family meal if your kids are a bit adventurous, because there is enough variety to make everyone happy; Chinese food, Mongolian grill, Sushi bar, and American fare like fried chicken and pizza and a salad bar. I recommend going for lunch unless you absolutely have to have seafood (served at dinner), because little seasoning is used when cooking the seafood, so it's pretty tasteless. There are much better places in town for seafood.
Which brings me to my complaint...
The last time we went, we got there at 3:23. I had called ahead of time and was told lunch goes on until 3:30, at which time Dinner service starts. We stood in line for a while, and when it was our turn to be seated, my watch was showing 3:27. I asked her to confirm we could still have the lunch service, but the "manager" said her watch was showing 3:30, so we would have to pay for dinner, even though the sign says dinner from 3:31... Since I was there with my son and daughter who will only eat a plate of noodles, and I go there for the sushi, paying for dinner, which on Saturday is $5 more per person didn't make much sense to me... Anyway, according to the information she gave me on the phone, it was still lunch time... Whatever happened to the age-old adage "the client is always right"?
This not a way to treat long-standing clients. Shame, shame,...
Read moreThis place was good when it first opened years ago. It has really gone downhill since then. My son and I ate here a few days ago. It had been a few months since I'd been here so didn't realize just how bad it had gotten. The only things I was able to stomach was a corn on the cob, and the yogurt. Everything else was absolutely disgusting. Much of the food was cold, overcooked, undercooked, no labels telling you what it was, and dirty dishes. Ugh! My son, who loves Chinese food, told me that he didn't like anything and that he was afraid that he was going to get sick from what he did eat. I actually did get sick. As soon as I got home, I had to run to the bathroom because the food had given me diarrhea. At one point, the waiter asked us how the food was, and I told him that it was pretty bad. He kind of laughed and walked away. Then when I left, the cashier handed me one of their punch cards, and I handed it back to him, telling him that I was never coming back because the food was so bad. One would think with King Buffet taking away their business that they'd up their game, but no, it's gotten really really awful. I would advise anyone not to go to Buffet City. If you want a good Chinese Buffet, go to King Buffet. Buffet City has become really really disgusting. Don't waste your money or risk your health. If I could give it negative stars, I would, but one star is the lowest the...
Read moreThe food was wonderful, and the staff was even more so. The waitress that seated us was very nice. Even more so was the people that worked in the kitchen and refilled the buffet. I Love the veggies and the green beans were a little old not bad, but not as firm as i like and the person came out to fill something else saw me at the green beans and picked up on the fact that i wasnt completely pleased and immediately told me he would bring more out, that it would take eight minutes. he asked where i was seated so he could bring some to me and he actually did. they were wonderful. The sushi bar was wonderful, they didn't allow the sushi to sit out long before replacing it with fresh and had many different kinds. The hibachi was amazing as well. he cooked everything perfectly and it was really good.. overall a wonderful experience. the only thing i missed was having a couple of beers or glasses of wine as they did not serve alcohol, but that was the only disappointment i had. still give them five stars, if you are wondering should you go, i say absolutely it is worth it, not far from anywhere in Lafayette, and not...
