Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool — Attraction in Lake Buena Vista

That wave pool is no JOKE! HOLY Schiznizzle! My nine year old wanted to go deep. Don't do it people! Especially if you don't have serious swim skills and def not with younger kids. Stay in the shallows which will still beat you up. Be careful. But, damn it was fun. Staff was great. Parking is so easy. The slides were all fun and it just wasn't so busy because is was so hot when we were there but we found a cool place to lounge by one of the bars. The drinks are OK, stick with beer if you want booze and drink lots of water. You can take snacks and a cooler. They say no "loose ice" just make sure your ice is in a bag when you enter and they won't mess with you. Don't try to bring in beer or booze they will send you packing though the security people were actually very nice. If you love big wave pools, you need to come here, be prepared for the mosh pit, but it's a lot of fun. Maybe wear a life jacket for real. Especially if you have smaller kids and don't let them in...

This wave pool is the central feature of the park. It is very large and can accommodate many people at a time. The pool operates in two different modes. One is constant smaller waves, which is typical of most wave pools. The other mode is less frequent, but large waves. The large waves are no joke, do be cautious if you're out in the pool when it switches over. That said, a loud horn goes off to warn you when it is about to change so you have time to move to more shallow water if you want before the large waves begin. Definitely do be careful if you have small children, not only do the waves hit hard, but there is a pretty serious undertow from the water rushing back...

Had a blast surfing the lagoon with family and friends. Once your wave choices (lefts vs rights vs split peak) are programmed and the session starts, waves get pumped out every 90 seconds; so don't sleep on pre-planning with your group to avoid missing waves and getting too tired.
