We changed our reservation 3 times on a Saturday, so you may be able to just get a walk-in table if you’re lucky. It seems quiet in comparison to the other restaurants in Disney Springs. Maybe it’s because it’s at the other end where there isn’t as much to do? Anyway, it was easy to get a reservation. Try open table rather than the Disney app as they seem to have way more times available.
The place itself is a little dank but it’s decorated as you’d expect for the kind of establishment it is. My wife and I love the alternative stuff so it was perfect for us. We were sat promptly from arriving and our server was over quickly.
The choice is plentiful and the prices aren’t that bad when you compare it to other places at Disney Springs. My wife had the Cajun pasta and I had the Shrimp Po Boy with a side of Mac and Cheese. My wife’s dish was amazing, delicious and full of flavour. Although there was so much pasta I wouldn’t be surprised if Italy was on the phone asking “where is all our pasta gone, momma has to work overtime to make more”. There was so much that she couldn’t finish it. I did help and we managed to get rid of most of it. I could see other guests who had the same dish were putting almost half in a box to take home.
My Po Boy was on point in terms of flavour and there was a lot of shrimp. The salad was all fresh and the bread was lovely and soft. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as hot as I would have liked, but it was more than eatable, and the same could be said for the fries. It’s like they were left under a heat lamp that didn’t quite do its job. But ya don’t come for the fries!
The mac and cheese was basic and wasn’t anything special. Unless you’re desperate for mac and cheese, I’d avoid this side and get something else.
Because I’m the restaurant equivalent of neighbourhood watch. I always look at other people’s food orders and whilst I shouldn’t judge them, I do. It’s a nasty habit that I’m trying to get rid of. For anyone reading this, you should know that the other dishes looked and smelt great too. So order with confidence from House of Blues.
Price wise it was pretty good. It’s not the most expensive but not the cheapest. I thought $19 for a Po Boy with Fries was acceptable and when you see the portion sizes you’ll probably agree.
Overall I think this is a good choice to eat if you want something a little different from a burger (but you can of course get a burger if you wish). The cocktail menu is extensive but expensive. We didn’t try any and to be honest I didn’t see anyone else getting them, either.
Just remember that it’s the House of Blues and not a fine dining experience and you’ll be fine. I got food envy at my wife’s Cajun pasta. So next time you’re there and you opt for the Cajun pasta and a member of your party says “I didn’t expect you to get that”. Tell em’ uncle Mick told...
Read moreThis is the one place I would avoid at all cost in Disney Springs. When my family and I arrived without reservations, we were added to a list that we would receive a text message from when a table was ready for us in 25-30 minutes. After sitting at an outside table for 45 minutes, my wife went inside to check the status. Our name happened to be next to be called and she was told we would be called momentarily. 15 minutes later, I went in to see what was taking so long. The hostess told me that my phone number did not work but she would seat me as soon as a table was cleaned off. Another 15 minutes go by and I ask if the table had been cleaned yet and was told no. I was frustrated beyond means at this point and asked how long it took to clean a table. I would have cleaned it myself if it meant a place to sit. The hostess, Lauren, decided to pipe up with some bass in her voice and advise me that they are very busy. My wife demanded to speak with a manager and shortly after, the manager arrived. This was the 3rd time I had seen him at the hostess podium as he had been there previously to remove 2 of the 6 employees just hanging out and having a good time. The manager went and cleaned a table for us himself. On the walk back to our table, he apologized for what had happened and spoke of how short handed they were and the attitudes of this young generation were impossible to deal with. Referencing Lauren and her demeanor. After he sat us, we watched a waitress bus tables, bus people walk around looking for something to do until they found a table that they wanted to clean, managers seat guests while hostess' had a front door party and disrespect guests. After waiting for another 20 minutes and not have anyone wait on us, we just packed up and left. I'm sure others have had great experiences her and I wish I had experienced the same, but a child hostess will not disrespect my wife or I and expect it to fly. After the managers comments, it lead me to believe this has happened before, but we all know what they say about good help being hard to find. I think that manager is still searching for something good because who he has, isn't worth going to...
Read moreMy husband and I dined at this establishment on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us of a one-hour wait for a table, suggesting we utilize the bar seating area. Which had available seating. After seating ourselves, we waited approximately ten minutes for a server to take our order, when no one came to take our order I decided to inquire with the hostess about bar service. She suggested we wait another minute, promising to involve the manager if service remained unavailable. This initial experience negatively impacted our overall dining impression. The bartender eventually approached our table to take our order and deliver our beverages. The food came about 12 minutes later. I ordered the smash burger and fries and my husband ordered the jambalaya. The burger and fries was very good but in my opinion not worth $19 price point, but anywhere you purchase anything on Disney property you are going to be charged an arm and a leg. My husband enjoyed his jambalaya and said it was flavorful but didn't contain enough broth. Jambalaya is a Cajun dish and isn't supposed to be dry. The server never came back to check on us until we were done eating and ready to pay our bill. During our meal I had to get up and go to the bar to get a refill on our beverages, because the bartender who took our order never came back. I also had to go to the serving station to get a spoon for my husband's jambalaya and extra napkins. The service at this restaurant in our section was almost non-existent. I don't know if this was reflected throughout the entire restaurant or only in the bar area. I did notice there were only 2 bartenders working. Maybe on the weekends when it is busier they should consider hiring more staff to ensure guests get the adequate attention to ensure a better dining experience. Anything we needed we basically had to get up and get ourselves. Based off this experience we probably won't be back to this restaurant. I don't recommend eating here based off of the lack of service we received. The lack of service was appropriately reflected in the tip...
