We went there with 3 kids, one is autistic. Honestly, I am not sure if the lady was annoyed with our autistic child or us, but we felt very uncomfortable just being present there. Maybe they are just not that friendly in general. We always try to be friendly and respectful but in the end we walked out and confirmed with each other that we all felt the negative treatment. We couldn't wait to walk out, to be more specific. I'm just hoping it wasnt because of our autistic 5 year old, and just the general treatment people get. It's also a bit overpriced compared to the fruit stands around our area and we live on the coast of NC and everything here is much more expensive. After reading other reviews saying how friendly they are, and getting absolutely 0 of that experience, I changed the rating to 1 star. We didn't even get a hello or goodbye. UPDATE: There was no one there(it was pouring rain), but there was one person half way through who got good treatment and attention. The cashier had plenty of chances to give us even small attention or a single smile. Say hello and goodbye since there was NO ONE else there. My autistic son is harmless but he does wonder and we have to constantly grab him to keep him away from stuff and that could've been why we were a bother. Which hurts even more if that was the case. He is level 3 Autistic btw and sometimes people do judge be side of that. Whatever the reason was, this was our experience and there was absolutely no excuse. P.s. There was no attempt at any conversation at the register! It was really awkward! I don't know if it was you or someone else but a simple hello and goodbye is all it takes, even if you don't like someone. Again, it was a very rainy empty day! I just...
Read moreI've never had cantaloupe so sweet, juicy, and delicious as I got from Matthews Fruit Stand! I should have gotten 10 more! The young man who was working there picked out two for me and he picked some DELICIOUS ones!
I purchased a yellow watermelon and once I got home and cut it, it was rotten so I was a little bummed about that (I live in northern VA so there wasn't a way to take it back).
We originally went to locate Piggybacks BBQ and happened to see the fruit stand. I am SO glad we stopped!
They had purple bell peppers. I've never seen purple bell peppers before! My mom purchased some and she said they were sweet and very good!
She purchased some peaches. Since we were traveling, the owner told us how to protect them until we got home. Her technique worked and every last peach was DEVOURED!! Best peaches ever!!
I recommended this fruit stand! She had different seeds that you could plant and all types of fruits and veggies, nuts, and other food items. It's worth the stop/trip...
