Can't say enough good things about Shalimar B Photography! Shalimar has been photographing my son for the past several years, and every session seems like a different journey. When my little guy was 3, Shalimar figured out how to focus his near-constant energy long enough to produce beautiful pictures that highlighted his playfulness and sense of fun. His session at 4 seemed headed for disaster when we showed up for our outdoor shoot, cranky (one of us!) and somewhat disorganized. I drove home thinking there was no way I would like even one of the photos, yet when I received the proofs each image was better than the next. Somehow she was able to grab the amazing moments from that day, and I absolutely fell in love with the outcome. This year at 5, as my son's personality and interests have become even more discernible, Shalimar was able to work his love of music and his red guitar into the shoot. When we arrived at the studio she had his favorite band playing and let him explore and play for a bit, which made it easy for him to get into his comfort zone. He was able to relax and experiment a little, and the end result represents my favorite session to date. Shalimar's studio is intimate and comfortable, and her use of natural light produces the most amazing photos. Shalimar reaches out beforehand with questions that allow her to really understand her subject, as well as identify the most important outcomes of the shoot. Throughout the process no detail is spared - down to the packaging of the final order. Shalimar makes the process convenient and answers inquiries quickly and completely. My daughter had a 'belated' Senior photo shoot as she was H.S. Junior when the pandemic began (and life was complicated for a while). Found Shalimar via Googling, and besides her bright, bold, brilliant and engaging style photography that I was looking for my daughter, Shalimar offered makeup and hair!!

My daughter's Senior photos were scheduled within one month -- I appreciate her willingness to do an outdoor shoot mid-December (as mom had to have a Chicago skyline shot!), and take care of my daughter as if her own.

Prior to my daughter's photo shoot day Shalimar sent a questionnaire to her to learn more about my daughter's personality, likes, etc. which in turn Shalimar was able to offer suggestions for clothing, etc. and catch my daughter's character and personality best in her photos.

Enjoyed the sneak peek. Shalimar met with me and my daughter (who lives 45 min SW of Chicago) via Zoom a few weeks later so she wouldn't have to drive back and we enjoyed perusing the photos together -- I even teared up a little (and I'm not one to do that!).

Received the photos back today by email and couldn't be happier with my experience. Thank you, Shalimar! I will definitely keep you in mind for the future and anyone who needs a Chicago...

She was professional, detail oriented, and took some of the most beautiful photos! For me they are not just pretty pictures but treasured memories of my little babe.
