My first and last experience here was terrible. I called to book an appointment days before to make sure everything could be done in one day. I spoke with their rep Jon over the phone and specified exactly what I wanted then Jon gave me their price and took a deposit. I made sure to specifically ask Jon if the price he quoted me included everything I’d asked for to which Jon assured me it did. I arrived for my appointment and again informed the installer exactly what I wanted. I advised the installer the price that I was quoted by Jon and his reply was “whatever he told you then it’s that”. I came back later to pick up my car and spoke with Spence who then informed me that there is a $20 upcharge for what I’d asked for. I let Spence know that I’d been quoted a price by Jon when I made my appointment and even specified the total price with him. Spence then waived the upcharge and tells me “ok you got lucky”. I asked, how did I get lucky? Spence replies “well normally there’s a $20 upcharge but it’s ok”. I let him know that if there was any additional cost then Jon should’ve informed me of that when I made my appointment and placed a deposit. Completely unprofessional. To make things even better I noticed they left a part of the install undone, so I go back a few minutes later to inform the installer of the issue. The installer promises to fix it and I wait another 20 minutes. He finishes the job and I notice there is an issue with the final install. Spence then asks me to come back another day because they are already behind today. This experience was pretty bad and I found the staff to be completely unprofessional. If you guys made a mistake on your work no big deal but to have a customer have to go out of their way to come back because of your mistake isn’t acceptable business in my opinion. Not to mention the comment that Spence made about me getting “lucky” because of their error. I won’t be doing business with this place again and I hope that they make some drastic improvements to their customer service.
Edit: The owner Jon calls me after his employee views my google review. Jon begins the conversation with a comment to the effect of “we did all these cars today and everything was fine, but you had a problem”. I ignore the comment and let Jon continue to explain that the price I was originally quoted was subject to change, even though I specifically asked him if the quote he originally gave me was the final price, to which he assured me it was. Jon then goes on to make excuses for his employee’s unprofessional comments and rambles on about caring so greatly about his business. Jon, if there was an error or even just a miscommunication then a good business owner should acknowledge the issue, offer an apology for the inconvenience, and attempt to find a way to accommodate the customer. Instead, Jon calls me and immediately insinuates that I’m the “problem customer” because the rest of the cars that they worked on that day were fine, and that he’s never had an issue like mine before. Jon didn’t offer a single apology. A bit of advice, instead of lying to a customer over the phone about the final price, just advise upfront that the quoted price is subject to change depending on options. Also, own up to the situation even if there was just a miscommunication, don’t attempt to single out a customer because you told a lie. This convo with Jon solidified my opinion that these guys are a total joke and as I told Jon you may not lose business because of me but I will never do business with you again. Read moreUpdate/edit: I arrived exactly on time for my appointment today only to wait 45 minutes exactly to be asked inside. Then patiently waited about 10 more minutes for arrogant and rude Jon to pull up my review and refuse me service unless I removed the review, which is illegal according to the consumer review fairness act! Jon also tried to persuade me by telling me there was no other service companies in the area (more lies) I will be looking further into the proper steps to be taken for this business to be held accountable. I happily left and went to Unique Audio Customs in Lakeland, where Jack promptly serviced my equipment the moment I arrived with a smile and kind words. I'll gladly drive the extra 10 minutes from my house to Unique Audio Customs for any further appointments, as well as audio needs for my vehicle!! They clearly value their customers and treat them with respect unlike this business. Honestly I'd drive an extra hour or more to receive proper customer service rather than subject myself to this type of horrible service!!! As for the reply to my review, I was reviewing the service I received from boulevard customs and it's employees, not that of alcolock. Reviews are to help businesses improve, and help other consumers know what they are getting into, not for you to bash a person or refuse service because their honest opinion!
Mike is nice and seemingly empathetic. The main guy (manager I believe) however, is arrogant and rude! After multiple visits by appointment, I can honestly say this place has %0 customer service in all its areas including service quality, response time, and overall experience. Reasons for my rating are mainly but not limited to the fact that when I was 2 minutes late for appointment I was told I would have to wait till they could squeeze me in or reschedule, but if I was on time or early I would still be waiting for their convenience, all for a 15 minute job. On my very first appointment I was not properly informed how the equipment worked because the employees are over booked every time I go (6 times in 4 months), so they are never fully committed to the job at hand due to the stress and distraction of too many customers waiting. After witnessing people going here by choice for vehicle audio or tint and still waiting to receive horrible customer service and over priced products and/or installation, I will most definitely not be going here for any of my vehicle audio and aesthetic upgrades! As years past I tried doing my own installs, various car audio shops in Polk County and a few over in the St. Pete area. I was always looking for that quality sound that balanced all frequency ranges of music to outstanding sound and not just a vehicle that had a loud rumble of distorted bass blaring out of the car. Well along came BLVD. Customs of Lakeland on Memorial Blvd. Jon and Rob’s knowledge of product, sound quality, tuning and overall performance of your car stereo was there number one goal. Never leaving until the job was finished and the vehicle was sounding crisp, clear and had the necessary lows to impress anyone on any level that was looking for a quality sound in their car. Here I am now 37 years old and still a loyal customer and will always have every vehicle that I own taken to them simply to improve the quality of sound to pure perfection in my vehicles. Now, don’t get me wrong if a lot of bass is what you’re looking for they will hook it up….but they will make sure that all highs, mids and every sound coming out of your speakers is well balanced and enjoyable, not just annoying loud noise. Since I have discovered them I have personally had 6 vehicles completely custom done by BLVD and have referred every friend and family member to his establishment. When you visit Jon at BLVD Customs you will immediately notice the commitment to service they provide and the backing of the products they sell. If something isn’t right or not to your liking…they fix it, simple! After you have an install done I am positive you will have the same quality experience that I have had for many years. In fact I also happened to be there on the right day and the right time and I was the 25,000 customer (amongst my many other previous purchases) and received $100 off my purchase. These guys are the best in the business and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the right sound in their car, truck, van, boat, whatever…they can do it!
