Joe's Lakewood Computer did a great job installing a new operating system on my computer. I was very nervous making the switch from my old operating system which had been limping along, but they listened to my questions and concerns and had what seemed to be logical and experienced solutions. In addition to the new operating system I had them perform the additional services of transferring my files and reinstalling Microsoft Office using my original activation license. Joe's Lakewood Computer owner and staff also set the computer up with an extra Internet browser that I had mentioned and with desktop shortcuts that I had on the old operating system, which saved me time. After I took my newly formatted computer home and had a problem with the way I was hooking my monitor and TV up to my computer, they helped me problem-solve and advised a solution that worked. Later I had a problem getting the computer to recognize my printer, and after several unsuccessful attempts to solve the problem myself, I called for advice. Joe himself bent over backwards to help me, and with patience and persistence helped me get my printer/scanner/copier working with the new operating system. My experiences with Joe's Lakewood Computer have been great; and I loved the fact that they could help me to determine that my 6 1/2 year old computer would work perfectly well with a new operating system, instead of having to buy a...
Read moreWell, here I am back on the laptop. I have an HP I bought back in 2013. I picked it up today from Joe's and it works great. The problem was the back corner was completely separating when you opened the lid. The final blow came when I tripped over the cord, pulling the DC port loose. Once the battery died, no more laptop because it didn't recognize being plugged in. So I took it to Joe - found him on Google and took a chance. He said well they could just do a bit of gluing and bolting and it should be good as new. They opened her up, glued the DC port back down and put 3 little screws/bolts on the corner to keep it from opening up as it had been. They call it "Arts and Crafts" work. I call it a cheap fix. All together that was $80 out the door. Damn cheap if you ask me. Surely cheaper than buying a new laptop, right? The best part is... I forgot to say hey, can you clean it out too? Well the nice young tech gal cleaned out the heatsink and fan as a routine service. Like I said, I've had the laptop since 2013 and I have a LOT of cats so yeah. She said there was the equivalent of another cat in what she cleaned out of the fan, lol. Also, money has been short so they let me pay 1/2 one week, balance the next.
One note: They are cash only.
I definitely recommend the service I got at Joe's Lakewood...
Read moreSo, I haven’t paid yet, this is how sure I am this man fixed my rig well. Joe was awesome. I spent an hour or so talking to him about my PC’s problem, I had the time and he was nice enough to do basic diagnostic in front of me, which was great because I could answer his questions in real time.
He contacted me the way I asked him to, being respectful of my time, answered some my own time consuming customer service type questions while he diagnosed my pc, was honest about possible costs, but more importantly, charged me a super fair price for what he did.
Joe doesn’t know it yet, but I’m not fixing or buying my own computer parts anymore, there’s no reason to, since I have a beyond competent and reliable pc fixing service so near my house.
I’m gonna be back to have you install and upgrade my machine for sure, what with apparently THAT being what HDs look like now lol.
Literally cannot recommend this shop and this man enough, regardless if you know or don’t know about PCs.
If you do, he won’t BS you, and if you don’t, something tells me he’s going to be...
