Rebel Collective — Attraction in Lakewood

I walked into the salon feeling pretty low about my hair, assuming my 4C curls would be too much to handle after years of depression and damage from over-perming. I had never tried a Brazilian blowout before, so I was nervous but hopeful.

From the moment I met Abby, I felt at ease. She was so kind, welcoming, and truly took amazing care of my natural hair. For the first time, I felt like I could fully trust a stylist.

This ended up being the best salon experience I’ve ever had. My hair transformed from thick and unmanageable to soft, bouncy, and shiny—and it smells incredible! I couldn’t stop touching it. Most importantly, I wasn’t judged for how I came in or the state of my hair, and that meant so much to me.

I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first when booking with Abby—partly because I felt my hair was “too far gone,” and also because she isn’t a Black stylist. But I can confidently say I was wrong. She exceeded every expectation I had, and I left so happy with both the results and how cared for I felt. Abby truly knows what she’s doing—trust me, your hair is safe...

Wow… is the only word that comes to mind. I’ve seen maddi twice now. The first appointment we reached a color that I was IN LOVE WITH, and I thought, there’s 0 chance I can leave completely in love and have another big change at my second appointment, when I tell you MADDI DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I got bangs which I’ve never had before, she made me feel so confident and beautiful, she truly knows what she is doing and recommended things to me I would’ve never tried. Leaving the salon both times I legitimately was almost in tears with the amount of confidence I walked out with. (And I don’t leave these amazing kind reviews unless I truly feel it’s deserving. She knew I went through hair trauma before and hadn’t had my hair touched, cut, or colored in over 2 years. She saved as much hair as she possibly could (which was a lot). My hair is so incredibly healthy and strong even after bleaching, and I’m so so so grateful i was recommended to her. Thank you Maddi from the bottom of my heart for giving me my confidence back. I came in for a tattoo on the back of my leg on my calf ( a spicy spot! ) by Alex , @permafriedrice. She made it the easiest tattoo session being that it was in a tough spot, my tattoo ended up being the easiest tattoo I sat for.

The atmosphere was wonderful, the energy was upbeat and the entire space was beautiful and sterile. Alex ensured I was well hydrated, snacks are provided in the waiting area, and the communication was 10/10.
