We have driven past Biscuit House dozens of times and one time went in and decided against a long wait time (no hate, we were in a rush, but we thought it was indicative of something really great). Well, today, we finally got to try this spot out and we were disappointed. First, the good: 1)Service was really nice. When they took our order they are up front about a 20-30 mins wait time for food, which I appreciated. It was actually less than they told us which was also cool. 2) The coffee was delicious. They have a separate coffee bar, so it gets made in front of you, and it was really good.
Not good:
I was in town visiting my daughter and we decided to pull into this establishment to share a meal together. We waited a few minutes for the cashier to come back to take our order. (It is one of those places where you walk in and order your food before finding a place to sit down.) We are in mid-sentence ordering and this man enters the restaurant and interrupts us and states he is here for a pick up order. The cashier tells him twice to go and pick up the order from somewhere back in the restaurant. Well, he didn't follow directions and proceeds to interrupt stating he wanted to pick up his order. The cashier decides to stop helping us and reroutes his attention this man. The service in my opinion SUCKS!! My daughter and I look at each other in disbelief and I decided I would rather spend my money somewhere where I am acknowledged. As we sat in our car in the parking lot decided where we would rather go (Mama Pho-so delicious), the rude greasy long haired man comes out with his take out of one measly order and gets into a Prius. I had a chuckle to myself, thinking wow this establishment would of made twice as much money if they would of just took our order. Edit to add: their website shows a Mother & daughter duo owns the restaurant and how ironic when me (mother) and my daughter come and felt the establishment to be...
Read moreThe Biscuit House was bright, clean, and friendly, with a well-oiled take-out program that quickly churned out two breakfasts for two famished post-Christmas travelers.
Both meals featured biscuits (which, as the restaurant's namesakes were good but unremarkable) and hashbrowns. Eggs were cooked expertly to order. The hashbrowns (both in a hash and in a side order) achieved a texture that I haven't encountered in my many years of hasbrown-eating, having been apparently adequately browned and yet still toothsome--a sort of crispy-on-the-inside and crispy-on-the-outside texture that left the palate confused between hashbrowns and a warmed jicama slaw. My hash included chorizo, which further confused the issue by creating an illusion of fully-cooked and browned potato because of its colorant effect.
We dined at nearby, scenic Seely Lake Park (5-stars, reviewed separately), so sending the dishes back for exchange wasn't really an option, and I doubt we would have anyway--we were hungry enough to eat raw/browned hashbrowns. Had we asked, I'm sure they would have kindly obliged--as I said, the joint was bright, clean, and friendly. While we won't likely seek out the Biscuit House again, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a top-shelf purveyor of (hopefully) occasionally under-cooked potatoes and very...
